Work Schedule:

Weekly Rotating Shifts for Production Employees, Monday through Friday. Shift start time depends on the department, but weekly rotations begin on 3rd, 2nd, and then 1st shift.

Scope of Job:

The Processing Line Operator job is the most complex and detailed of any operation in the department. This person must be a complete team player. The responsibility of coordinating and communicating the workflow of the department belongs to this employee. Must have a complete understanding of all machinery and products produced, all procedures concerning Production, Sanitation, Quality and Maintenance. This employee must have good written and oral skills. Must be a team leader and must be able to think and react quickly. The Line Operator works without direct supervision and spends considerable time coordinating the work of others. Must also be able to operate from sometimes-complex written instruction and perform sensitive adjustments of complex controls, requiring skill in adjusting and an awareness of process variables. The daily operation is highly varied and involves mastery, skill, art and judgment, which can be achieved only after years of exposure to the job.

Job Responsibilities:

Production:

Must have complete knowledge of production, cooker, changeover and cleaning. Must have thorough knowledge of all responsibilities in the Kraft Policy Manual, GMP Manual, HAACP Manual and Kraft New Ulm Quality Handbook. Must assist in relieving for breaks for all employees and assist in keeping records of all training of employees. Must have a complete working knowledge of all forms and paper flow within the department. Must be aware of standards for the department. Must be able to perform all duties as directed by the departmental supervisor.

Sanitation:

Must be able to coordinate workflow for all cleanups within the department. Must have complete understanding of all policies and sanitation procedures.

Maintenance:

All department maintenance:

Calibrate Recorders. Calibrate Thermometers. Scale Maintenance. Troubleshoot versator. Troubleshoot DCO equipment.

Quality:

Quality of all products produced at our plant as it goes through our department. Working with other departments to help solve quality problems. Recorder Charts. Temperature Checks. Ingredient Checks. Scale Checks. Basic knowledge of formulation to insure correct additions at the cooker and to aid in problem solving. All departmental GMP's.

Equipment Operated:

The Line Operator has to operate and have a thorough understanding to be able to train employees on every single piece of equipment within the department.

Value of Material:

An error in judgment may be a very substantial inconvenience, delay, or cost and may not be readily detectable. The Line Operate also has to exercise considerable judgment and resolve questions independently.

Safety:

Must be a leader in stressing safety and be conscious of all safety hazards, as working with moving machinery is a moderate, but controllable hazard.

Lifting Requirements:

Moderate - Will sometimes have to lift over 100 lbs.

Working Conditions:

Fair - Work may be strenuous and the pace hectic at times. The temperature in some areas may be as high as 90 degrees. During cleanup, parts of the area will be wet and the floors slippery.

Training:

The Processing Line Operator is expected to be competent in all aspects of the job and all other duties as assigned by the department supervisor after a training period of 12 - 18 months, depending upon the individual's background.
