Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Equity, Institutional Effectiveness & Innovation, the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness & Innovation performs duties with a progressive focus on moving the institution forward in matters related to institutional effectiveness and innovation.

The department maintains a focus on:
  • Collaboratively lead the development of an evidence-based inquiry and decision-making culture.
  • Effectively communicate and assist in building collaborative relationships within and among instructional, student services and other departments, divisions as well as constituent groups throughout the college, district, and community.
  • Skillfully analyze program effectiveness; develop and implement goals, expedite workflow, hold self and others accountable and bring projects to timely and successful completion.
  • Deeply commit to an ethically grounded approach to the advancement of students and diversity; to staff professional development/training; to promoting respect and civility in the workplace and academic community at large; and to thoughtfully planning and facilitating positive organizational change.
  • Thoughtfully consider the lived experiences of others, and reliably exercise grace under pressure.

Assignment Responsibilities
Typical duties include but not limited to:
  • Providing vision, leadership, and oversight to the areas of planning and research; governance and accreditation; and strategy and innovation.
  • Investigating, assessing, surfaces, and recommending potential solutions for navigating a rapidly changing environment.
  • Identifying and promoting the ideal conditions for a college-wide culture of innovation, ideation, and collaborative design of creative solutions; and directs and facilitates the implementation of various strategic initiatives including, but not limited to, the college's strategic plan.
  • Designing, organizing, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive and integrated institutional research program and evidence based institutional planning and governance process.
  • Providing oversight to the areas of professional development.
  • Managing, reviewing, and evaluating the work of faculty within the area of responsibility.
  • Assuring the planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive decision support (institutional research) and integrated planning process that leads to college-wide dialogue about effectiveness and continuous improvement and supports the development of a strong culture of evidence-based inquiry and decision-making.
  • Acting as a catalyst for innovation and rapid progress.
  • Serving as a thought leader and strategic advisor to the college president and leadership team on innovative practices as well as potential opportunities, challenges, and areas of vulnerability.
  • Serving on various college and district committees.
  • Maintaining information on college councils, project teams, and committees; works with the various constituencies to assure appointments are made consistent with college guidelines; disseminates information on governance group guidelines and membership; and maintains the college's decision-making handbook.
  • Serving as the Vice President of Administrative Services designee as the college's Information Security Officer responsible for security implementation, incident response, periodic user access reviews and distribution of information security policies and education.
  • Preparing annual reports in areas of primary responsibility.
  • Planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of support staff within the area of responsibility.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Have a master's degree from an accredited institution completed by July 1, 2024.
  2. Have one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment.
  3. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

Salary $161,864.96 - $175,207.85 per year
