Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the Railroad Coordination Section with project setup, project documentation, project filing (P Drive and IRIS), project closeouts, railroad agreement generation/revisions/coordination, etc.
  • Assist the Railroad Coordination Section in conducting property research (e.g. historical land use analysis, rights-of-way acquisitions, and title searches)
  • Assist the Railroad Coordination Section with Project Delivery Network (PDN) project development activities, preparation and attendance of Project Team meetings; prompt and proactive coordination with Project Managers and Project Team members for project delivery activities; various design plans reviews/comment; maintaining and completing project related action items; development and management of Railroad Coordination Section related project schedules; ensuring all Railroad Coordination Section activities are completed to ensure the overall project milestones are met; identify potential Railroad Coordination Section related PDN revisions to support efficient and effective project delivery.
  • Assist the Railroad Coordination Section with the preparation and attendance of coordination meetings with railroad companies, developing meeting documentation, and following up on required action items.
  • Assist the Railroad Coordination Section with the development and revisions of Special Provisions 105C as requested by the railroad companies.
  • Assist the Railroad Coordination Section with the preparation and attendance of coordination meetings for projects under construction, facilitating meetings, resolving issues, developing meeting documentation, following up on required action items, maintaining communications during railroad construction projects, and assisting to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Assist the Railroad Coordination Section obtain Right of Entries as required
  • Assist the Railroad Coordination Section with the management of the "HQRailroadCoordinator" email account by proactively monitoring it, responding to inquiries timely, and organizing/filing emails effectively.
  • Assist the Railroad Coordination Section with the coordination, verification/review, filing, and prompt payment of railroad invoices.
  • Assist the Railroad Coordination Section as needed (e.g. workload/resource management; cost estimate development/review/updates; workflow review/enhancements; review of guidance documents, process/procedures and/or updates, coordination/ implementation of updates; internal coordination/organization; drafting of various internal reports/briefings/performance metrics; etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of railroad and transportation project terminology
  • Prior experience within the railroad industry as it relates to public projects
  • Prior experience working with railroads on LPA projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the railroad coordination process as it relates to Tennessee
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations within the CFR and TCA as it relates to the railroad coordination process
  • TDOT Project delivery experience is desired, but not required
