The Opportunity:

HDR is seeking a Structural EIT with 1 to 4 years of relevant engineering experience currently working in the field to join our diverse and talented team of professionals in the Denver. We're looking for an intelligent, collaborative person committed to growing their career in structural engineering by learning from the expertise of others and contributing to active project work from design through construction.

The Job:

In this position, you will provide structural engineering solutions to complex and challenging problems that touch every aspect of our communities and lives. You'll work under the direction of licensed professional and structural engineers on projects that provide safe building environments, deliver clean drinking water to our communities, provide critical buildings and facilities to industry and all levels of government, improve the infrastructure of our national parks for generations to come, and more.

You will work in integrated, multi-discipline design teams comprised of structural, electrical, mechanical, civil, environmental, and fire/life safety engineers; architects; and professionals and scientists from many other diverse disciplines from the inception of projects through the completion of construction. Our work is gratifying and rewarding and makes a difference in the communities that we serve.

We will rely on you to:

  • Perform structural design and analysis of building and civil structures for various project types, construction materials, and methods.
  • Prepare specifications and contribute to the production of drawings for construction documents.
  • Be proficient using Revit to model the building elements you design.
  • Periodically serve projects during construction by visiting construction sites to inspect work, review contractor submittals to ensure they meet design intent, and address construction changes.
  • Participate in conditional assessments of existing structures on occasion.
  • Contribute to writing technical memos and reports on occasion.
  • Participate in multi-discipline team meetings, design charettes, client review workshops, and construction meetings.

Our Ideal Candidate:

Our ideal candidate will be a collaborative person and a good communicator, possess technical curiosity and a strong work ethic, take responsibility for their work, and be eager to learn from the expertise of others. The following qualifications are desired for this position:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, or similar analytical software
  • Previous structural design experience (internship or full-time work experience) is a plus
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent graduates should have a minimum overall GPA of 3.25 and a minimum engineering GPA of 3.25.
  • A team-oriented mindset that seeks to collaborate with and learn from the expertise of those around you.
  • Coursework or experience that includes concrete, steel, and masonry design using IBC and ASCE codes and referenced standards.
  • Experience with structural analysis, finite element, and Revit and AutoCAD software.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to speak fluently in meetings and groups.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, resulting in technically sound solutions in an organized and timely manner.
  • While this is primarily an office-based role, previous experience in construction environments is considered beneficial.
