HDR is a top-ten U.S. architecture, engineering, and construction firm with a growing international practice. HDR is currently looking for an Infrastructure Finance and Policy Intern for the downtown Denver office. This position will contribute to grant applications and financial analyses by conducting primary and secondary research, evaluating projects' merits related to specific grant criteria and writing responses to grant application requirements. Grant applications will support clients seeking funding from federal discretionary funding programs included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), as well as regional and state grant programs. Candidates with a research background and strong written and verbal communication skills will excel in this position as it requires quick turnaround of technical and policy information as well as collaboration with a variety of planning and engineering disciplines.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an Urban Planning, Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Public Finance, or other programs that require extensive research, communication and analytical problem-solving.
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong writing and analysis skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word are strongly preferred.
  • Interest and potential experience in public infrastructure; grant writing; sustainability, equity, and resiliency; and/or financial planning for public agencies or infrastructure owners such as transit agencies, State Departments of Transportation, Metropolitan Planning Organizations and/or municipal governments.
  • Position may require an individual with the ability to interact with clients

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
