Job Summary

Applies acquired skills, process, and policy knowledge to support graduate medical education for the Pediatrics department, residents, and faculty. Coordinates program operations, which include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation.

Department Description

The Department of Pediatrics is a large department on the UCSF Fresno campus and UCSF School of Medicine. The UCSF Fresno Pediatrics Department provides service and training at Community Regional Medical Centers. Elective rotations are also available at the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital campuses in San Francisco and Oakland. Pediatrics is one of the eight residency programs located in Fresno. The Pediatrics Department has 21 residents, 7 in each year of training; 2 chief residents; 2 fellows. The department has 40 core faculty members and over 140 volunteer faculty members, most of which are employed through the Central California Faculty Medical Group, our major affiliated partner. The Department of Pediatrics currently includes 10 sub-specialties; Pulmonary, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Neurology, Genetics, Adolescent, Critical Care, Hospitalist, Generalist. Pediatrics also has one fellowship, currently: Community Pediatrics. The Department of Pediatrics' mission is to provide the highest quality of care for all children of the Central San Joaquin Valley into and through adulthood, in a compassionate environment that integrates advanced medical treatment, innovative research, a premier medical education program, and community partnerships.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and 1 - 2 years of experience working in either the medical or educational fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Basic knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Acquiring skills in developing and implementing processes and systems. Familiarity with the administrative and operational implications in a program
  • Communication skills; includes verbal, written and active listening. Service oriented and responsive to questions and requests. Ability to interact in a professional, resourceful, and courteous manner
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships within department and with learners
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to work with extremely complex faculty calendars / schedules requires extremely well organized and detail oriented precision
  • Knowledge of educational technology and systems. Ability to troubleshoot and triages related technology issues
  • Investigative, data analysis, and reporting skills. Ability to generate computer reports, checking for errors, correcting and submitting accurate reports. Skills include entering, maintaining, extracting, and analyzing data in electronic systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements which includes but is not limited to ACGME and other medical education policies or procedures. Basic knowledge of health professions education industry.
  • 1-2 years of medical education experience
  • Certification of Training Administrators of GME (C-TAGME)

License/Certification

  • Valid California driver's license
