Position Overview

The Informaticist at OCHIN is a clinician responsible for providing clinical consultation on the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement, of clinical and health IT systems, including Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Telehealth, Mobile Health, and other HIT systems. This role will support OCHIN member clinics and clinicians and work on priority innovation projects.


Essential Duties

  • Collaborate with clinical leadership team on strategy and operations.
  • Provide leadership within the clinical informatics team in areas of clinical subject matter expertise, with special emphasis on any of the following: Primary care,
  • Behavioral Health, Substance Use, Dentistry, Acute Care, Pharmacy, Other clinical specialties
  • Provide clinical informatics consultation internally at OCHIN.
  • Review clinical questions via incident management system (JIRA)
  • Ad hoc consultation on additional OCHIN Epic build or maintenance projects.
  • Analysis of clinical EHR break/fix issues as needed.
  • Participate in build primarily in design, as time, interest, and skill level allow.
  • Participate in member engagement.
  • Prepare for and present at Clinical Operations Review Committee (CORC) and Clinical Oversight Group (COG) meetings.
  • Ad hoc consultation.
  • Learning Forum - OCHIN's annual user group meeting.
  • Provide mentorship to provider builders at member organizations.
  • Provide support to new members before, during, and after install.
  • Facilitate focus groups
  • Recommends modifications of clinical information systems to gain maximum efficiency, leverage the clinicians' time, and maximize communication with affiliates and referring physicians.
  • Support clinical team in efforts to measure, communicate, and support an increase in workforce satisfaction among member sites.
  • Clinical Knowledge Management efforts
  • Contribute to building and improving Clinical Decision Support (CDS).
  • Contribute to clinical review of CDS content.
  • Communicate with members about CDS.
  • Participate or provide leadership in interdisciplinary work groups in areas of expertise. Develop or further subject matter expertise, and provide leadership, in one or more priority areas. Involvement may include product consultation, research initiatives, business and foundation development needs, or policy.

  • Exercises strong communication skills, especially in the area of relaying messages between IT and technology and, clinical staff, members and stakeholders.
  • Studies trends in health informatics to inform the development of IT systems and infrastructure that increase efficiency and improve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrates an in depth understanding of the modern health field and its direction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Master's or equivalent relevant combination of education and experience is required
  • Clinical degree and licensure (MD, DO),OB/GYN
  • Experience in Ambulatory, Inpatient and Surgical skills 5-years of experience in preferred specialty
  • Informatics background required - Board Certification or Eligibility, graduate degree or certificate, or significant prior experience.
  • Previous experience with FQHC/Safety Net clinics is desired.
  • Title X experience/knowledge preferred
  • Epic experience required, Epic Clinical Certification appropriate for role in ambulatory, Provider Builder/Clinical Content Builder or equivalent. Ability to obtain Epic certification within in the first year of hire.
  • Knowledge and previous experience with clinical innovation, health care transformation, and quality improvement desired.
  • Part time clinical work in addition to this position desired.
  • Knowledge of population health and analytics, and application of these in the clinical setting, desired.
  • Familiarity with Healthcare Administrative Data and regulatory programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Availability for occasional travel, including supporting go-lives according to OCHIN's policy (go-live support is required; this support is sometimes provided virtually) (10% Travel possible)
  • Familiarity with methodologies such as the Model for Improvement or Lean desired
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer application systems, including experience with Microsoft Office

Work Location and Travel Requirements

OCHIN is a 100% remote organization with no physical corporate office location. Employees work remotely from home and many of our positions also support our member organizations on-site for new software installations. Nationwide travel is determined based on OCHIN business needs. Please inquire during the interview process about travel requirements for this position.

Base Pay Overview

The typical offer range for this role is minimum to midpoint, with the midpoint representing the average pay in a national market scope for this position. Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will consider a wide range of factors directly relevant to this position, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, responsibility, and experience, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
