In this role:

The Facility Security Officer (FSO) directs security measures necessary for implementing applicable requirements of 32 CFR 117 (NISPOM) and related Federal requirements for the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). The FSO is responsible for providing security support including, but not limited to, physical security, access control, fielding of daily security request/issues, investigations, personnel security, operational security, and asset control. Responsibility includes aligning security functional goals and objectives with strategic priorities, assessing, and minimizing risk and liability, all while providing protection to personnel, information, facilities, and other business operation.

You are responsible for:

  • Responsible for the administration and coordination of the DOD, DOE, or other industrial security programs and activities to ensure compliance with 32 CFR 117 and other government and company security policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate due diligence and risk assessments whose objective is to identify improvements in the existing physical security controls in place for non-NISP security function at assigned facilities.
  • Maintain and provide security classification guidance of DD254's, Security Classification Guides, and other documents related to security requirements for assigned programs.
  • Operate and maintain a security education, training, and awareness program to include indoctrinations, annual refresher training, debriefings, courier, travel, and event specific briefings.
  • Manage the personnel security clearance process; prepare and submit nomination packets per contract requirements; identify and resolve issues prior to personnel clearance submission; provide employee security indoctrinations, and debriefings; and administer and manage all relevant databases and clearance monitoring sources.
  • Provide Security guidance to and regularly interact with Program Managers, Contracts and Sales, Engineering/Production, Management, and Human Resources.
  • Investigate security infractions/violations, prepare reports specifying the potential for loss or compromise, and provide associated corrective actions.
  • Maintain Communication Security (COMSEC) inventory, distribution, and destruction, in compliance with government regulations/requirements.
  • Safeguard Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), proprietary, and third party and company information from unauthorized disclosures.
  • Develop, implement, and administer an Operational Security (OPSEC) program, security education, procedures, and physical controls to ensure compliance with government regulations/requirements and Mercury Corporate Security policies.
  • Provide innovation and effective security awareness training to educate, refresh, and motivate personnel to protect people, property, and information.
  • Obtain rulings, approvals, interpretations, and acceptable deviations for compliance with regulations from government agencies.
  • Maintain active membership and involvement as a representative of Mercury Corporate Security in security related organizations.
  • Act as a Liaison with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and other government agencies as required.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Knowledge of US Government regulations, DCSA, IC and/or federal law enforcement security practices, and expertise with Defense Information Security System (DISS), Electronic Questionnaires for Investigates Processing (e-Qip) and other relevant systems is required.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication/presentation skills with proven ability to influence, shape and execute an enterprise-wide corporate security program.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, adjust quickly, and adapt to changing priorities, working well both independently and as part of a team.


Education: Bachelor's Degree

Work Experience: 3-5 experience in security field with particular focus on 32 CFR Part 117, and other governmental regulations related to security functions.
