Georgia-Pacific Gypsum is seeking motivated and safety-oriented individuals to join our team as Process Control Technician at our Savannah, Georgia facility. This position creates value by supporting our operations team in the continuous manufacturing our of wallboard product. Specifically, the PCT will support gypsum operations through logistics and electrical troubleshooting of new and existing systems, continuous improvement efforts and process controls systems. Compensation: Compensation depends on level of experience.


What You Will Do

  • Supporting gypsum production and logistics systems includes troubleshooting, continuous improvement efforts, and electrical support for existing and new systems. These systems are used to meet manufacturing needs and production goals.
  • Support operations through the application of the process control systems and general troubleshooting of the processes to address technical issues with long-term solutions in mind.
  • Effectively communicate/work with various operational, environmental, maintenance, and engineering levels in a team environment, yet be self-motivated and accomplish individual goals.
  • Read and understand electrical drawings.
  • Plan and manage process improvement projects.
  • Provide sufficient information to designers to produce control system electrical drawings, loop drawings, and IO drawings
  • Embrace new technology by continuously learning and looking for ways to better our systems.
  • Understand control loop dynamics and tuning.
  • Understanding of control system networks using protocols such as Ethernet/IP
  • Support a 24-hour operation with rotating on-call responsibilities, including nights and weekends as needed
  • Prioritize working safely and lead by example.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience reading blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience with PLCs/Programming
  • Experience with electrical systems.
  • Experience utilizing industry-related tools.


What Will Put You Ahead

  • 2+ years of industrial electrical experience working on PLC/Automation systems with 24VDC up to 480VAC OR associate / technical degree in related field
  • Experience problem solving systems containing PLCs, Servos, pneumatics, & instrumentation by utilizing electrical schematics and software.
  • Experience with all generations of Rockwell PLCs, Rockwell drives (Kinetix & Powerflex), and Rockwell PLC IO.
  • Hands-on programming experience or hardware management in industrial control platforms/networks.
  • Experience with motion control programming/troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Connected Components Workbench (CCW), Drive Executive, Cognex Cameras.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic systems
