POSITION SUMMARY:

Guide and assist team members with the receipt and processing of donor tissue shipments, and the fulfillment of requests for recovery supplies and marketing materials. Ensure an efficient and accurate flow of data, product, and supplies between recovery and quality departments, and adherence to all company policies, procedures, and quality standards. Review donor paperwork for accuracy and completeness; work with recovery team to resolve issues, errors, and obtain missing information. Identify and recommend improvements to overall quality of recovered tissue, processes, and the placenta donation program, and assist in implementing effective solutions/corrective measures. Coach, mentor, and train team members to ensure professional development and that expectations are being met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide guidance and leadership in the day-to-day activities of team members; delegate and prioritize workload to ensure timely completion of tasks and meeting of expectations
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of donor tissue shipments and the fulfillment of requests for recovery kits, marketing materials, and other supplies
  • Ensure team members are compliant with established procedures, standards, and regulations
  • Perform in-depth review of donor charts to ensure informaton is accurate and complete; address needed corrections with recovery team and guide them on making regulatory compliant changes
  • Evaluate and determine suitability of tissue by investigating the donor's medical and social background, review of questionnaires, medical records, forms, etc.; consult with quality team on any issues/questions related to donor suitability
  • Review all equipment temperature recordings from recovery team, perform weekly inventory of quarantine refrigerator, ensure proper labeling and identification on quarantined containers, etc. to ensure compliance with all company and regulatory requirements
  • Identify and advise management of problems/issues that may arise with hospital staff, physicians, or nurse manager, and/or need for process improvements
  • Identify trends and lost donors in the field affecting collection goals and implement improvement measures where needed
  • Conduct new hire onboarding and ongoing training as well as annual competency evaluations
  • Coach and mentor team members to ensure individual professional growth and meeting or exceeding expectations
  • Identify deviations in processes and data, and recommend corrective measures; work with management to provide instruction and re-training

PROBLEM SOLVING:

  • Problems and issues faced are vague, but may be recognizable based on past solutions
  • Has autonomy to define solutions to non-routine problems within established operational policy boundaries and procedures

DECISION MAKING/SCOPE OF AUTHORITY:

  • Ensures that work is performed consistently within the boundaries of Company policies and procedures

SPAN OF CONTROL/COMPLEXITY:

  • Typically manages 3 or more support, production level employees (i.e. non-exempt) or entry level professionals. Heavily involved in day-to-day execution of result

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA in related discipline

OR

  • 3-5 years of experience in a general field with 1-3 years of progressively responsible positions, or verifiable ability. Certification is required in some areas
  • Prefer degree in science related field (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Nursing)

  • Prefer 1-2 years supervisory experience

  • Knowledge of AATB, FDA, and other state/federal regulations

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a focus on customer service
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Organized, flexible, and able to multi-task while maintaining a high level of efficiency and attention to detail
  • Ability to lead and influence others to achieve desired results
  • Ability to make quick, sound decisions based on policy, past practices, and experience
  • Must show aptitude to develop appropriate skills for the job

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Office environment and exposure to sensitive information such as patients' charts and medical records. Travel may be required as needed to conduct training, cover accounts for PTO, and field visits to local and out-of-state travel (approximately 50 % of the time). May experience odor from donor tissue/samples.
