Salary Range: Up to $45,500 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours: up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions

Job Summary

Responsible for scheduling, planning, coordinating, and administering community engagement programs and events connecting with students and student organizations in the San Antonio community. Through coordinated outreach aimed at promoting meaningful student engagement, including volunteering; and fostering the development and enhancement of experiential learning through service, programs, and practices that facilitate the development of professional and leadership skills and traits to foster students' post-graduate success, and strengthen their ties to the University and each other.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Coordinates sustained outreach to students and student organizations promoting student engagement, including volunteer service and experiential learning opportunities that engage and connect them to the campus and San Antonio communities. Engages community partners for community service opportunities.
  2. Advises the Volunteer Organization Involving Community Education and Service (VOICES) sponsored student organization in facilitating program production, budget management, student leadership development, risk management, and coordination of projects with community service agencies.
  3. Assists with the data collection for Carnegie Foundation Community Engagement Classification.
  4. Serves as the primary advisor for Alternative Break programs, including selecting projects, creating risk management plans, training and orienting student trip leaders, managing budgets, participant and staff volunteer recruitment, planning travel, fundraising, and serving as the lead staff chaperone. Assists in appreciation events, leadership development opportunities, and the student volunteer of the year award.
  5. Serves as the university representative when working with community partners and other San Antonio institutions regarding community engagement and volunteer services.
  6. Assists with scheduling, planning, coordinating logistics, and administering the Leadership and Service Living Learning Community program.
  7. Maintains the volunteer services webpage content and all social media accounts.
  8. Promotes and supports student usage of RowdyLink and the experiential transcript.
  9. Serves as a member of the Expressive Activity Response Team addressing elevated demonstrations on campus. Assists with oversight of small-scale campus expressive activity.
  10. Supports programs and events sponsored by the Student Involvement Center.
  11. Supports university-wide programs including, but not limited to, Roadrunner Days, homecoming, and commencement.
  12. Collaborates with other campus offices to promote student engagement including Student Activities, Housing and Residence Life, Career Services, Multicultural Student Center, Center for Civic Engagement, and academic colleges and departments.
  13. Recruits, supervises and trains a graduate assistant and student staff.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Higher Education, Student Personnel Administration, Education, Volunteer Management, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience up to a Master's degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Anthology Engaged, Adobe Photoshop and GiftPost.
  • Demonstrated skills in the following areas: student advising, budgeting, program planning, project management, marketing, and effective collaboration with broad constituencies.
  • Demonstrated independent decision-making and risk management planning.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of volunteer coordination.
  • Two (2) years of student advising, and event planning in a university setting.

Working Conditions
  • High-student-contact office environment.
  • Accompany students on university-sponsored trips such as conferences.
  • Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.
  • After-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.

Physical Demands:
  • Exerts up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally.

This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
