Your next role as a Miracle Maker

Maravai LifeSciences is seeking a #MiracleMaker to join our Manufacturing team as a Temporary Automation Engineer with a focus on our Building Management and Environmental Management systems. In this role you will be responsible for development, upgrade, and support tasks focused on our Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS). You will be maintaining the newly installed EMS and BMS at our startup sites, as well at one well established sites. All located in San Diego, CA.

How you will make an impact:

  • Oversee the enhancement and maintenance of an existing EMS at one site, while supporting the initiation and maintenance of systems at two new startup sites.
  • Integrate EMS alarms into the SCADA system, ensuring seamless operational performance.
  • Manage the EMS running on Rees Scientific environmental monitoring and the Tridium Niagara BMS platform, with a focus on achieving full system validation.
  • Generate, update, and manage extensive documentation related to system operations, modifications, and validation processes.
  • Collaborate with an onsite engineer who has prior involvement with the systems, providing support and direction as needed while maintaining the ability to operate autonomously.
  • Develop, program, diagnose, and troubleshoot control systems in alignment with engineering standards.
  • Engage with various engineering teams to enhance BMS through strategic initiatives and revamping of monitoring logic.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to formulate control system solutions for new products and to enhance existing product processes.
  • Formulate user and system requirements, aiding in the development and execution of qualification protocols.
  • Conduct site audits and inspections, ensuring all operations comply with regulatory and company standards.

The skills and experience that you will bring:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial setting focusing on EMS and BMS, with a preference for those who have worked within the life sciences sector.
  • Previous employment within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or chemical industries is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and logical reasoning.
  • Advanced computer proficiency.
  • Proven track record in drafting user, system, and software requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including 21 CFR 820, ICH Q7, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485, is beneficial.
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies is considered a plus.
  • Exceptional multitasking skills, capable of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A results-oriented individual who is self-motivated and can independently manage workload and stress while handling competing demands.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $48 - $54 per hour. The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, as well as the location of the role.
