Title:Engineer (Varies)- Solar Projects

POSITION CONCEPT:
The Project Engineer - Solar is responsible for assigned projects in the Solar Department and for carrying out assignments requiring knowledge and experience in Solar and Energy Storage, and projects. Responsible for developing, implementing, and administering an industry best practice approach to cost effectively achieving the highest level of performance from Tampa Electric's utility scale solar & energy storage facilities and collector stations. Responsible for the development and tracking of effective inspection, monitoring, environmental compliance, and preventative maintenance programs for Tampa Electric solar & energy storage facilities. In addition, responsible for the development and maintenance of a reliability predictive modeling tool for these facilities.

*Engineer classification is multi-level, based on the qualification guidelines outlined in the Company's Engineer Career Path, Administrative Policy 2.13. A minimum classification of an Engineer II is required in this position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development and implementation of the planning, engineering, procurement, construction, and testing of multiple Solar and Energy Storage capital projects. Manage project scope, cost, time, risk, quality, procurement, communications and to drive project execution and meet project objectives.
  • Schedule and facilitate project team meetings/conference calls to maintain project schedules and costs, and efficiently address/resolve project issues and concerns. Ensure effective communication and coordination of work with other contractors and/or TEC representatives.
  • Development and implementation of the solar & energy storage facilities design/equipment specification review; health, criticality, and risk assessments; inspection, monitoring, and testing strategies; performance; safety; environmental and maintenance requirements.
  • Development and implementation of the solar & energy storage facilities' reliability plan using empirical data to predict reliability performance.
  • Track, analyze and assist in reporting of reliability metrics for solar & energy storage facilities.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive data collection and predictive modeling tool for solar & energy storage facilities that assists in the prioritization of expenditures.
  • Assist in the facilitation of system root cause analysis for solar & energy storage facilities. Assist in facilitation and tracking of resulting action plans to maintain appropriate system performance.
  • Maintain measurement of solar & energy storage facilities' performance to ensure achievement of organization vision and goals through performance benchmarking.
  • Participate in the development of solar & energy storage facilities' O&M, capital and other budgets and manage expenditures accordingly.
  • Perform any other task as assigned by the Sr. Engineer.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a ABET accredited college or university
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university. Master's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and Advanced business training/or MBA/PMP.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Preferred: Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida. (Required at the Senior Consulting Engineer level)

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of 4 years of Engineer experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: A sound understanding of electric power generation, transmission, distribution or substation engineering principals, materials and their applications; Working knowledge of reliability centered maintenance practices, continuous improvement practices and electrical power generation/delivery systems used in electric utilities; Working knowledge of work management systems in power generation/delivery; Ability to organize, lead and resolve technical and process problems; Good project management skills, time management skills and communication skills.
