Job Overview:

The exercise physiologist leads exercise classes, provides patient education, and sets appropriate exercise guidelines for rehab patients. Also responsible for documentation, physician follow up as necessary and providing a safe exercise environment. Works as a team member and with the patient to enhance a healthy lifestyle and achieve patient goals. Watches monitor, takes blood pressures, leads warm up and cool down stretches. Maintains a safe exercise environment. Cognizant of patient arrhythmias and problems and aware of emergency protocol.

Job Requirements:

Master's Degree
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
Knowledge of EKG
GXT Interpretation

Job Responsibilities:

Supervises exercise class in safe, timely, organized manner; explains proper use of equipment, monitors patient response to exercise and documents/reports change in patient status or abnormal findings
Reviews exercise Rx. Guides patient toward appropriate lifestyle plan. Updates MD as necessary, and Provides appropriate interventions, including emergency procedures
Recommends exercise modification for special populations based on current literature and patient need/ability; demonstrates prof resp through continuing education, prof. organization participation
Provides patient education with appropriate, current educational materials; documents teaching timely; creative with ideas to enhance education; facilitates student internship program
Maintains exercise equipment in good working order; makes recommendations for equipment purchase; guides patient in home exercise
