Friday, Saturday, Sunday - 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Base Rate $30.00-35.00 + $2.00 Shift Differential

Your mounting system is the crucial link between your firearm and your optic. That's why our Mount Systems department makes more than one million rings and bases every year. As the weekend Lead, you will assign and direct safe work activities for team members in the set-up, operation and quality assurance of all machining centers, associated processes, and procedures. Departmental equipment to include: Grob 5 axis CNC machines, various horizontal and vertical CNC mills, mill/turn CNC machines, and others.

What You'll Be Doing as a Lead, CNC Machinist - Mount Systems:
  • Oversees the daily activities of staff engaged in set-up and operation of machine tools used in the manufacture, of the Mount Systems' products. Schedules specific work responsibilities to assigned production staff.
  • Troubleshoot set-up and process problems. Document information crucial to the success of the area.
  • Monitors production information to assure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Organize, trains, and evaluates all area personnel. Tracks and maintains development of assigned staff through training records and comment sheets.
  • Ensures running condition of and operation of all area machinery. Oversees the machine check off sheets, for cleanliness, safety, and operating condition.
  • Through effective training and assistance provide resolution and/or recommendations to staff.
  • Maintain set-up proficiency with regular set-up of all machine tools used in the manufacture of Mount Systems' products. May set-up or operate a machine as required.
  • May hold group meetings to give or report essential information.
  • Collaborates with engineering and technical staff in the development, testing and implementation of new equipment, process improvements, and new product introduction.
  • Effectively manages and works within a Kanban system.
  • Ensures company policies are adhered to by assigned personnel, assures customers (internal and external), receive the best possible product and services.
  • Performs special projects as assigned and provides advice within the area of expertise.
  • Works to assure a safe work environment.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experiences You'll Need as a Lead, CNC Machinist - Mount Systems:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus two years of technical trade school training (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Preferably a minimum of 5 years related and progressive set-up experience involved in parts manufacturing, (e.g.; metal cutting, tooling, and fixturing practices, machining principles, CNC operation and programming and finishing experience).
  • Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
  • The ability to demonstrate understanding of blueprint reading, drafting technology, and the use precision measurement equipment.
  • Knowledge of GD&T terminology, and the ability to apply it to check parts to specification.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control procedures, equipment and processes.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing methods and philosophy.
  • Knowledge and understanding of tool and cutter designs and sharpening techniques.
  • General computer skills and experience. Knowledge of the current information system, Tool request and repair system, and the ability to work in both Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work overtime if production levels dictate the need.
  • Superior trouble shooting and problem-solving skills on machining or tooling issues.
  • Expert in quality inspection and instrumentation use.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions, deadlines, schedule and shift changes.
  • Must have advanced familiarity with manufacturing equipment and operations.
Work Environment for a Lead, CNC Machinist - Mount Systems:
Work takes place in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and chemicals. Ability to use PPE. Ability to stand or sit for long periods. Good manual dexterity, fine motor skills, visual acuity, and ability to use full range of motion. Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds with assistance.
