Job Description

SUMMARY: Responsible for working collaboratively with department managers to implement projects / programs that help meet financial revenue, operating efficiency and strategic goals, as well as regulatory requirements. Performs business needs analysis, gathers and documents requirements. Acts as a liaison between IT and the business line on assigned projects/initiatives and works closely with the Project Manager, BA Team Lead and Application Delivery Manager to keep stakeholders informed of progress. Coordinates test plans to meet project, initiative requirements and helps drive user acceptance testing to produce quality deliverables.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

  • Requirements and Technical Analysis (30%)
    • Analyze and define user requirements to develop solutions that meet the strategic requirements of the business unit. Conduct discovery sessions to gather requirements from all stakeholders. Document current state and future state process workflows.
    • Proactively collaborate with the business to identify potential process improvements and enhancements that increase efficiencies and decrease costs.
    • Translate business needs into design documents and specifications. Prepare detailed specifications from which IT can program application solutions. Work with vendors on configuring third party solutions to meet the process needs of the Business Unit.
    • Work with business users to efficiently identify and coordinate resolution of issues.
  • Business Analyst Execution (30%)
    • Provide both strategic and detailed support to the Project Manager on significant projects and initiatives. Assist with delivery of projects according to agreed upon timeline, budget and scope.
    • Work with Solutions Architect to define and design the conceptual architecture diagram as input to the business process flow diagram Work with the Software Quality Assurance (SQA) team to assist with the development of test scripts for key projects as needed. Assist in the creation of the define test plan and coordinate user acceptance testing to help ensure requirements traceability and delivery of a quality solution. Maintain testing results, manage the resolution of defects, report accurate testing statistics, and ensure testing evidence is obtained when necessary.
  • Project Governance (10%)
    • Prepare project artifacts as required by the Project Management Office Standard Operating Procedures to ensure satisfactory internal and external audits. Ensure timeliness of document approvals by stakeholders and accessibility of project artifacts on the project's SharePoint and JIRA Confluence page.
    • Complete required documentation for each assigned project & initiative on a timely basis, including Business Requirements Documents, User stories, File Conversion and Technical Design Specifications, Test Plans, and Process Flow diagrams.
    • Ensure requirements inventory is properly maintained on SharePoint, JIRA Confluence and validate traceability to testing. Monitor for proper change management of requirements. Ensure acceptance criteria is met prior to go live deployment of new solutions or enhancements.
  • Industry Knowledge and Business Analysis Skills (15%)
    • Develop and maintain appropriate banking industry knowledge of common financial services concepts, practices and procedures.
    • Develop and maintain of project management concepts, practices and procedures; and knowledge of business analysis tools and techniques. Obtain and maintain appropriate certifications.
  • Teamwork and Leadership Skills (15%)
    • Establish and maintain business line partnerships. Demonstrate ability to guide focused diverse groups to specified goals. For Business Relationship Manager assigned duties in a Business Analyst Level II or III position:
    • Become the IT subject matter expert for solutions and processes supporting the business unit(s). Act as the IT specialist responsible for engaging in assigned department planning activities to better understand business needs and assess feasibility of new solutions.
    • Actively develop domain business expertise and analyze business processes to identify improvements. Provide input to the business line for applying technology to their challenges. Act as a channel of business line input to the IT Portfolio Manager.
    • Communicate and report concerns of the business unit to IT. Keep track of trailing items to ensure business line needs are being met and continuity is maintained between projects. Conduct scorecard review of business line IT satisfaction level.
    • Cultivate close relationships with all key stakeholders and serve as a "trusted advisor" to the assigned business area(s).
  • Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
  • Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
  • Identifies and reports suspicious activity.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE

  • 4 - 6 years of banking experience and business line expertise required.
  • 4 - 6 years of business analysis experience required.
  • Experience in requirements gathering and development of business requirement documents and functional requirement specifications required.
  • Experience with Agile and waterfall software development techniques required.
  • Experience with vendor management required.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance, test plans and test coordination preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to independently facilitate requirement elicitation sessions with business users.
  • Understanding of Banking regulations.
  • Critical thinking, problem solving and independent execution skills.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
  • Above-average facilitation, collaboration and relationship management skills.
  • Strong skills in MS Office Visio and workflow or data flow diagramming tools.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Six Sigma Green Belt, preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), preferred.
  • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), preferred.
  • PMI Professional in Business Analysis preferred.
