As a Associate Director, A&R, Columbia Records:

What you'll do:
  • Communicate closely with analytics and A&R teams on the identification of new artists and the discovery and application of new music insights
  • Search through new artist data daily to aid in artist discovery
  • Evaluate and recommend new talent and coordinate the signing of new talent to the label
  • Act as a label liaison for assigned artists
  • Attend live showcases/concerts
  • Oversee the recording, production, mastering, and sequencing of artist projects
  • Handle ad hoc artist discovery and reporting requests as needed
  • Manage the organization of artist data and updates on a daily basis
Who you are:
  • At least 4 years of experience in A&R within the music industry, with demonstrated track record of discovering new artists that fit with the musical direction of the label.
  • Must be able to create and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Hands-on experience required in all the different steps in the recording, production, mastering, sequencing and release of a record
  • Exceptional communication and time management skills
  • Must be able to work independently as well as be a team player
  • The ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Must be available to travel and attend evening showcases as required
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • You have the ability to communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences
  • You are proficient in music discovery platforms (e.g. TikTok, Soundcloud, YouTube, etc)
  • You enjoy working with numbers. Experience or education in a data-related field is a bonus, but not required.

The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
New York Pay Range
$85,000-$100,000 USD
