Kratos is seeking a Business Unit Controller to be responsible for all aspects of Accounting, Financial Planning, Cost Control and Pricing at the Business Unit level. The controller leads, manages, and develops department staff in support of the Business Units goals and reports to the Business Unit Sr. Vice President.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide proactive analysis of Business Unit operations in the areas of Annual Budgets, P&L, Project spend plans, Indirect rate performance and Cash flow forecasting.
  • Responsible for leading and developing the Annual Plan including quarterly updates and all associated reporting schedules. The Annual Plan includes, 18-month forward view of P&L (Revenue & Cost), Indirect budgets both labor and non-labor, the resultant Indirect Rates and a Cash forecast for the business unit and its international sites.
  • Evaluate annual indirect rates for bids and costing, monitor and analyze the indirect costs, direct base, and rates and when necessary, estimate EAC cost impact by project.
  • Responsible for leading and developing the mid-quarter monthly updates to the Annual Plan, including comparison and variance analysis, and report presentation.
  • Responsible for leading, integrating, analyzing, and monitoring Annual Indirect Budget. Work with Functional leadership to understand and plan spend requirements in support of overall business unit goals.i Provide monthly variance reports to Functional managers and BU-SVP.
  • Lead and prepare financial performance sections of monthly and quarterly reviews for Senior Management.
  • Develop responses for adhoc requests for financial data/analyses as required by BU/Division/Corporate.
  • Lead the accounting staff in the areas of Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, GL reconciliations and Journal Entries in support of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycle.
  • Review and approve the Revenue Recognition method for all contract awards in accordance with GAAP and Corporate policy.
  • Review and approve the Project accounting set up for all contracts in accordance with CAS and Corporate policy.
  • Provide accounting oversite using third party in country accounting services and team staff for satellite operations in Saud Arabia and Australia.
  • Responsible for the monthly analysis and presentation of Project EACs in accordance with GAAP revenue recognition standards for senior management approval.
  • Support proposal preparation ensuring indirect rates are current and accurate, billing and cashflow projections are acceptable and financial risks/opps have been vetted. All in support of negotiations and contract award.
  • Perform job duties in support of Sarbanes-Oxley regulations

Required Experience:
  • Bacheloris Degree required with focus in Accounting and Finance.i CPA or MBA a plus.
  • 10+ years experience with Government cost accounting and financial practices and analysis required.
  • Experience with manufacturing cost accounting a plus.
  • Must be able to understand reporting and analysis, job costing and Government accounting for all DoD and Federal type contracts (FFP, CPFF, Award Fee Type, etc.)
  • Prior experience working with DCMA and DCAA preferred.
  • Proficient in other General Accounting and Finance disciplines to lead and support entire finance/accounting team.
  • Experience managing a department to include staff management, personnel work load forecasting and budget a must.
  • Requires effective communication skills with a strong leadership, analytical, decision making and team-building skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with DELTEK Costpoint (integrated ERP/MRP) accounting system a plus.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills with internal and external customers and ability to interact well with all levels of employees and management.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and meet many tight deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
