Role Overview

The Fraud Risk Analyst will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on fraud trends and patterns, as well as developing and implementing strategies to mitigate fraud risks thereby protecting the company from fraudulent activities and ensuring that we are compliant with regulations and industry best practices.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and third-party data to detect and document patterns, derive insight, and inform strategy and drive improvements as it relates to fraud risk management, transaction/user monitoring, and anomaly detection
  • Work to understand the ever-changing methods of fraud, including, but not limited to: identity theft, synthetic identity fraud, account takeover, and first-party fraud
  • Develop reporting/information radiators regarding fraud metrics, trends, and forecasting
  • Manage queue of various fraud alerts and reports, providing customer support, and work to implement automated systems for fraud review and mitigation
  • Escalate confirmed cases of fraud, scams, or financial crimes to Product Lead following bank policies
  • Review customer KYC documentation, watch lists, and fraud flags, while improving manual processes and automating where possible
  • Communicate with customers in a timely and effective manner
  • Assist in debit disputes as needed
  • Timely fulfillment of Regulatory / Compliance Data Needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development, data, user testing, user experience, and more to review products and features and ensure fraud risks are mitigated
  • Conduct other assignments which assist in carrying out the mission of the team

Requirements

  • Familiarity with risk models, decision engines, rules management systems, and other elements used in the administration of risk management strategy and policy
  • Familiarity with threat landscape and various fraud methods of operating as they apply to credit/debit card, payments, lending, Automated Clearing House, cryptocurrency, etc.
  • Enjoy solving technical problems: You won't need to know how to code, but terms like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript shouldn't be foreign to you
  • Familiarity with lending and its associated risks
  • Familiarity with payment processing and its associated risks.
  • Exceptional communication skills: You understand that effective communication is about more than what you say, it's about taking the time to listen and understand. You can make complicated concepts sound easy or describe in detail the simplest of interactions
  • Self-starter with a keen sense of urgency and accountability
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to navigate multiple systems at once
  • Adaptability in ambiguity. Not fazed by short-term challenges

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a Technology or Business-related field and 2+ years of fraud risk and/or analytical experience

OR

  • 4+ years of fraud risk and/or analytical experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Flexibility to respond to escalations on weekends as needed
  • Knowledge of PowerBI
  • Experience with financial mobile app or fintech app a plus
