JOB SUMMARY:

As a Program Coordinator in the Workforce Education and Advanced Technology Division at Indian River State College, you will play a pivotal role in the Division by coordinating duties, assisting students with class selection and scheduling, and assist with special events. This position requires occasional flexibility in work hours, occasional travel, and active engagement with students, community members, and industry partners. Qualifications:

The qualifications and skill requirements position include:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree is preferred, from an accredited institution.

  • Coursework or job experience in a field related to education, health and human services, social work, business, communications, or management or a closely related field;

  • Minimum of two (2) years documented work with higher ed students;

  • Experience with advising and working with students in higher education;

  • Preferred: experience working with and developing grants;

  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written;

  • Adept in report writing;

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, motivational, and leadership skills;

  • Sound use of judgment;

  • Skillful problem-solving ability;

  • Motivated self-starter with high character and integrity;

  • Technology savvy to include proven experience with Microsoft Office applications;

  • Ability to work independently as well as with others;

  • Applicants must hold a valid Florida driver's license.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordination of duties relating to the Workforce Education and Advanced Technology Division.

  • Schedule coordination for faculty within college guidelines.

  • Advising students as needed on semester schedules and program progress.

  • The responsibilities for this position also include report writing, website maintenance, and curriculum development.

  • This position will require flexible work hours as well as occasional travel.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing course offerings, student recruitment, and special events;

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends;

  • Traveling to branch campuses as needed;

  • Communicating with current and prospective students, community members, and college faculty, staff, and administration;

  • Planning, scheduling, and conducting meetings;

  • Coordinating and attending Advisory Committee meetings with industry partners;

  • Preparing various grant and state reports;

  • Other Duties as assigned by the Dean of Workforce Education and Advanced Technology.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical requirements for this position include:

  • Ability to regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to safely lift, hold, and carry up to 50 pounds of supplies and/or equipment needed for student training.

  • Manual dexterity and balance required for demonstrating applications.

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, walk, bend, lift, reach with hands and arms, and stoop.

  • Ability to present verbal lectures/demonstrations.

  • Vision abilities sufficient to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Excellent Hand-Eye coordination skills required to demonstrate appropriate skills required of the program.

  • Ability to travel to and pick up miscellaneous supplies from local vendors for materials for student training and make good purchasing decisions or substitutions.
