PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and enter payroll information for processing in payroll system.
- Reviews and audits automated time collection reports submitted by field locations.
- Prepares data files to be loaded into Oracle for processing.
- Ensures accuracy and compliance with Authority rules and guidelines.
- Processes time capture data submitted by the field.
- Reviews/audits automated time collection reports submitted by field, prior to processing, to ensure accurate data files will be loaded into Payroll Management Systems (MS).
- 2Maintains Oracle's union employee master job qualification data for wage progression. Analyzes wage progression results for accuracy.
- Develops and tests solutions for wage progression problems in Payroll MS support instances.
- Migrates resolution from support instance to production.
- Researches and resolves miscellaneous time and deduction requests from CTA business units, such as labor disputes, back-pay calculations, etc.
- Distributes confidential payroll reports to various CTA business units.
- Collects, verifies and processes union employee job qualifications with information obtained from various training centers to ensure compliance.
- Troubleshoots and tests various payroll issues.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

- Ensuring accurate data is loaded into Oracle for processing.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, plus one (1) year of payroll experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to this position.
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
- Experience with latest HR/Payroll MS versions (11i and higher) preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time and constantly operating a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Service Area Requirement: Exempt (Non-Union) employees must live within the boundaries of the CTA Statutory Service Area either at the time of employment or within 6 months of beginning employment at CTA.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of standard payroll processes and applicable local, federal, and bargaining union contract terms related to payroll and taxation.
- Working knowledge of the practices and principles in Payroll, controls, and balancing of Payroll.
- Working knowledge of basic arithmetic, including decimals, fractions and percentages.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations on employee compensation and benefit programs.
- Intermediate computer skills with standard and payroll specific software, i.e. Microsoft Work, Oracle.
- Strong customer service skills.

- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, report, and effectively presents research findings.
