Roles and Responsibilities:

The Debug team in the Server Platform Solution Engineering Group team is looking for a debug engineer to accelerate debug in AMD and to drive innovation in the debug space in AMD flag products. The scope includes hands-on work with cutting edge server hardware and software technologies in a challenging environment leading up to platform launch. In this role you will work with design, architecture, validation and manufacturing engineering teams to solve critical issues to meet customer quality expectations.

THE PERSON:

The individual has a strong understanding of the general silicon engineering process, from concept to tape-out and then production. A successful candidate must have outstanding verbal, as well as written, communication skills.

Job Duties:

  • The debug lead is expected to provide root cause analysis for logical, performance, firmware, circuit marginality and manufacturing defects.
  • Define and validate workarounds for silicon bugs.
  • Improve debug capabilities and methodology over time by identifying common challenges or impediments to efficient debug and working with partner organizations to drive innovation in silicon architecture, design, tools and methods.
  • Manage and track technical issues, risks and priorities. Manage customer and executive communications, including program status, risks and opportunities.
  • Mentor and train engineers in x86 and debug techniques.

Required qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience Developing SoC (design, architecture, pre-silicon Validation or post-silicon validation)
  • A thorough understanding of datacenter industry technologies and their software stack.
  • Strong knowledge of X86 architecture, Power management, SoC design, cache coherency protocols and Data Center industry standard busses (PCIE, CXL, etc).
  • Exceptional understanding of platform hardware, Operating System, Device Drivers and System BIOS interactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience defining and coding debug tools.
  • Strong probability and statistics background including DOE's.
  • Knowledgeable in DFD and DFT technologies.
  • Innovation Track of record (publications and patents)

Academic Credentials:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Electronics / Computer Science related
