.The Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences (KF-SCIS) at FIU is currently seeking Students in Technology, Academia, Research and Service (STARS) to join their team of professionals. STARS provides fully online peer assistance to students enrolled in KF-SCIS courses. STARS are expected to cover multiple courses. Duties to include:

• Joining the STARS organization
• Attending a mandatory training session at the start of the semester
• Commit to a fixed weekly schedule of online office hours
• Record all student visitations using a specified activity log
• Assist students with assigned coursework
• Employ student-centered teaching techniques
• Assist with examination proctoring

Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days.

• B or above in corresponding or subsequent course, and "B" or above in the first two programming courses in your KF-SCIS major (undergraduate). For graduate, qualifications in corresponding courses as deemed appropriate by STARS director.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0

* Qualifications taken into consideration include: relevant prior experience and performance, course enrollment, current schedule, specific skillsets requests by faculty, and availability.

Student Assistant

• Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
• During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
• Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.

$700.00 to $5000.00 total gross per semester (paid in biweekly increments)
