This position is eligible for a $500-Sign on Bonus.

The primary role of the Mortgage Loan Officer it to support the Mortgage Manager in the overall operation of the mortgage department, answer questions, originate and approve loan requests. Additionally, this role will collect, review, and analyze data and member information, and use professional judgment to determine appropriate loan product and credit worthiness. In the absence of the Mortgage Manager, provide guidance and direction to the Mortgage Specialist. The Mortgage Loan Officer complies with all federal, state, and organizational policies, procedures, and processes, including (but not limited to) the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). This role maintains confidentiality of current, past, and potential members and their personal and financial information.

Duties and responsibilities of the position include:

  • Provide regular oversight of activities regarding qualifying, processing, closing and post-closing.
  • Assist in the development of staff and/or provide underwriting training of regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Interview mortgage loan applicants.
  • Explain available loan programs and their requirements.
  • Obtain pertinent financial and loan information.
  • Conduct analysis to determine if the application meets minimum criteria established.
  • Approve loans within specified limits and refer loan applications outside those limits to management for approval.
  • Close loans and provide follow up as needed
  • According to the S. A. F. E. Act (Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act) this mortgage loan originator annually must meet the requirements and be registered in the NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System) and Registry.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive products and rate environment.
  • Provide input on policy and procedure revisions.
  • Review compliance issues.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required, College Degree in relevant field is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a lending setting required, 5 years is preferred.
  • Knowledge of mortgage regulations
  • Experience working as an intermediary between clients, brokers, and sellers
  • If offered the position, you will be required to meet the requirements of the S.A.F.E. Act and be registered in the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS).
