Position Summary & Duties Responsible

POSITION SUMMARY
Elections Technician Senior will coordinate activities associated with election functions to include recruitment, supervision of temporary election workers and staff, and to train all election workers on voter registration, absentee voting, early voting, coordination, and identification and the set-up of polling locations, and the Voter Registration Outreach Program. Assign work for election workers and staff as necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Identify voting locations for regular or special elections for Bernalillo County. Research and identify new polling places that are in compliance with American with Disabilities Act (ADA). Renew and/or initiate contractual agreements with public and private entities.
  2. Recruit, hire and train all poll workers and ensure payment for services are coordinated and arranged. Supervise workers and coordinate statutorily required work and location assignments for pre-election, election day and post-election activities.
  3. Coordinate and direct all aspects of absentee/early voting including the projecting of voter turnout based on historical trends; ensure necessary resources are allocated based on projections, issuance and tracking of absentee and early ballots and the reporting and closing of voting returns.
  4. Responsible for the coordination and compliance of voting rights, voter outreach and third party registrants program. Plan and coordinate voter outreach events, trainings and presentations.
  5. Research and compile data, analyze information, develop reports and coordinate data exchange to various election system databases. Review data content for accuracy.
  6. Update and maintain the information databases, type correspondence, coordinate purchase requisitions, order supplies, secure quotes from vendors, coordinate employee time cards and monitor budget expenditures.
  7. Interact with the public, other county departments and election officials regarding the election process.
  8. Responsible for establishing and maintaining official documents, to include policies and procedures related to election projects, project plans/charts, files and internal records in accordance with record retention and inspection laws.
  9. Incumbent(s) in this classification may handle sensitive and/or confidential records, plans, documents or decisions that require maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. ?
  10. Any one position may not include all duties listed. However, the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent performing the essential duties listed above.
  11. Performs other job related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


  1. High School diploma or GED, and four (4) years of work experience in office administration, information technology, or a related field. Any equivalent combination related to education and/or experience may be considered for the above requirements.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:

  1. Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.
  2. Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County.
  3. Employee must complete required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position.
  4. Must have a valid New Mexico driver's license and maintain a valid license while employed in this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  1. Shift work is required.
  2. All essential duties are performed indoors.
  3. Duties are performed in a temperature-controlled environment.
  4. Duties are performed on an even surface, which may be carpet or tile. Working surface is typically dry.
  5. Worker often works alone, both with or without directions from supervisor or with a team of individuals.
EQUIPMENT, TOOLS and MATERIALS
  1. Equipment typically used in the performance of office duties includes telephone, computer terminal, computer printer, computer keyboard, and photocopy machine, fax machine calculator, microfilm equipment and postal equipment.
  2. Materials and products handled in the course of performing essential duties include files, forms, reports, various types of paperwork, and a wide variety of basic office supplies.
  3. Operates a County vehicle as necessary.
