Position Highlights

The School of Information invites applications for a Career Track (Non-tenure Eligible) Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice in Game Studies, Game Management, Game Development, Media Ecosystems, Digital Content Management, Social Media/Internet Studies, Data Ethics, Data Science, Information Science, or Library Science position beginning August of 2024 or January of 2025. The teaching load is 3 undergraduate and/or graduate courses per semester (3-3 load), along with iSchool administrative work (e.g., managing capstones, internships, engaging in graduate student advising duties, etc.) and regular service (e.g., committees, disciplinary involvement). Teaching assignments will involve face-to-face classroom instruction and may, depending on faculty preference, involve online or hybrid course formats.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • We are seeking candidates with a vision for and engaging approaches to outreach and the inclusion of underrepresented learners, as well as strong pedagogical abilities for teaching diverse students.
  • The School of Information is an academic department and a professional school at the University of Arizona, the state's only public land grant university. The School of Information aims to inspire interdisciplinary understanding, diverse interpretation, creation, and use of the emerging knowledge and information environments of the 21st century through innovative instruction and state-of-the-art technology. The School is a place for the interdisciplinary study of information, broadly conceived, and is focused on preparing students for living, thinking, and working in the digital age. The School of Information offers nine degree programs and other certificates, minors, etc.

  • Demonstrated commitment to preparing students for a diverse, multicultural, and interconnected society.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D., terminal degree, or commensurate degree in any discipline related to Game Studies, Game Management, Game Development, Media Ecosystems, Digital Content Management, Social Media/Internet Studies, Data Ethics, Data Science, Information Science, Library Science, Game Communities, eSports, Computer Science, Engineering, or Math.
Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Experience with teaching across differing modalities (e.g., online asynchronous, live online, hybrid, face-to-face).
  • Experience with faculty service and/or departmental administration.
  • Experience with curricular assessment, academic scheduling, advising students, or managing academic programs should be highlighted.
