Overview

TRC Advanced Energy (TRC) is a nationally known energy efficiency consultancy. TRC collaborates with clients to develop and implement market transforming programs and initiatives that promote energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green building in multiple market sectors across the US and around the world. These initiatives reduce energy costs, improve the health and safety conditions of buildings, while also helping the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. TRC acts nationally to address some of our country's most challenging problems: global climate change and energy independence.

TRC is seeking an Energy Equity Lead to support the delivery of a large commercial energy efficiency program (program) in Oregon and SW Washington. Through the program, we deliver technical assistance and cash incentives to customers in commercial facilities and buildings to help make electric and natural gas energy efficiency upgrades possible.

Historically, the program has struggled to effectively engage Priority Communities - comprised of individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, those whose primary language is not English, those who live in rural communities, and those navigating low incomes. In response to this and in support of our client's diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals, TRC developed a stakeholder group - the Community Based Liaisons (CBL) Network - within the program to elevate, influence, and accelerate AEI initiatives, and secure critical new customers and savings streams to support customers in Priority Communities throughout Oregon and SW Washington. The Energy Equity Lead is a new position that will oversee this work and collaborate directly with the CBL Network, equity subconsultants, program implementation team members, and our client to operationalize equity practices throughout the program.

We are looking for a passionate, diplomatic, and experienced lead who knows how to navigate existing systems to make effective change. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of energy equity issues, effective strategies for engagement with Priority Communities, and consensus building within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. This is an opportunity to lead a dynamic, high-impact endeavor as part of an influential, mission-oriented practice.

This job is located in Portland, Oregon. Candidates based within driving distance of the Portland metro may be considered if they have the ability to travel for in-person engagements at least monthly. The position reports to TRC's Energy Equity Director and will not have direct reports initially, but may do so in the future. Over time, this role may extend to support equity offerings in other markets.

TRC is committed to promoting diversity and equity within the clean energy sector. Different backgrounds and perspectives are essential to the utility of the future, and we are working to empower candidates of the global majority, disabled, women, and LGBTQIA2+ persons in the field of energy project management.
