The Opportunity


In a team-oriented environment within the Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy Human Resources Office, the Human Resources (HR) Assistant V will provide support analytical and administrative for the full spectrum of human resource services for faculty, staff, and students.


As the HR Assistant V, you will partner with, and provide consultation and advice to faculty, managers, and staff. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop effective and collaborative working relationships with all members of the Brooks School community.
  • Support for recruitment and selection of staff and academic professionals, leaves administration, transaction processing, student employment, time recording and reporting.
  • Facilitate recruiting strategies with hiring managers and manage searches for selected staff and academic positions.
  • Facilitate a full range of human resource activities for academic human resource events including hire, sabbatical process, promotions and tenure clock extensions, academic leaves, phased retirement, and summer salary.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide interpretation and application of human resource policies, employment and labor laws and practices.
  • Provide HR data in reports when requested by school personnel.
  • Provide support and consultation for routine employee relations issues that arise.
  • Serve as the point of contact for information on HR processes and HR policy interpretation, consulting with Assistant Dean of HR, and University subject matter experts as needed.
  • Always maintain strict confidentiality, as you will handle sensitive and confidential matters and information with appropriate discretion and judgment.

This is a hybrid position, currently with a maximum of 1 day per week remote, with core business hours between 8:00AM-4:30PM, with some flexibility with start and end times to be mutually determined and agreed up between you and your supervisor.

  • Understanding of metrics and efficiencies with a history of professional growth and self-development

  • PHR or CP preferred or ability to obtain within two years.
  • Some experience with HRIS, Applicant Tracking and other HR systems.
  • 5 or more years of experience working in a fast paced, high-volume HR or business environment.
