Are you a meticulous accountant who thrives on analyzing financial information and preparing detailed financial reports? Our company is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to maintain our financial records with precision and to compile and analyze financial data with the utmost accuracy. This position is based in our Northridge, CA office. This is an exempt, non-supervisory, full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertly prepare, review, and present financial statements and reports, ensuring strict adherence to GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Execute journal entries and contribute to the month-end close process, while providing insightful analysis on variances from the budget.
  • Engage in critical projects such as accounting software updates, implementation of new accounting standards, and other departmental initiatives to enhance our financial operations.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including the meticulous recording of asset acquisitions and disposals, and overseeing construction-in-progress accounts to support property tax returns.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to detect and correct any discrepancies or imbalances, collaborating with the accounting and finance team to address issues.
  • Assist in the timekeeping and payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for our valued employees.
  • Provide essential audit support during annual financial audits, DCAA audits, and tax audits.
  • Innovate and develop recommendations to optimize our financial systems and procedures.
  • Ensure the company's unwavering compliance with internal controls and GAAP.

Experiences and Background We Look For-

  • BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in increasingly responsible accounting positions.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Expert proficient in MS office (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Projects).
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop, evaluate and implement solutions.

Nice to have-

  • Advanced understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Effective verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and financial control processes
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
  • In-depth experience and working knowledge of automated accounting systems.
  • Experience in government contract accounting and knowledge of the FAR strongly.
  • CPA/CMA; MBA
  • Costpoint Deltek experience.

The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $140,000; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.

Other Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required to meet position eligibility.

Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Successful passage of a Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test is required to meet position eligibility.
