Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Water Resources Practice Leader with an entrepreneurial attitude, who is enthusiastic about business development efforts to expand Geosyntec's market share. This position will be based out of our Charlotte, NC location. The position entails leading proposals and projects with Geosyntec's existing public and private sector clients, developing new clients, and managing a team of engineers/scientists in the long-term. In collaboration with top professionals in their field, you will work on complex projects involving innovative urban stormwater management and natural surface water systems, including stormwater infrastructure and BMP designs, innovative water quality improvements, flood mitigation practices, sustainable green infrastructure planning studies, nature-based stormwater solutions, watershed planning studies, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis including dam breach studies and floodplain mapping, stream and wetland restoration, surface water, watershed, and stormwater runoff monitoring and modeling, NPDES permitting support, TMDL regulatory support, and resiliency and adaptation strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you'd work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and mentoring tasks.

    Maintain and grow Geosyntec's profile and reputation in water resources with existing and potential clients;
  • Develop business and manage clients and projects in urban and industrial stormwater management and natural surface water systems, including hydrologic and hydraulics projects, stormwater infrastructure and BMP design, innovative water quality improvements, and resiliency and adaptation strategies;
  • Recruit, train, and mentor early and mid-career water resources engineers and scientists;
  • Prepare proposals including scope of work, cost/fee estimates, presentations, etc.;
  • Oversee and manage client contracts;
  • Serve as primary point-of-contact with clients and other project consultants;
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative internal (i.e., within Geosyntec) and external (i.e., clients and subcontractors) relationships;
  • Oversee and review water resources engineering analyses;
  • Provide oversight and monitor projects;
  • Coordinate work efforts and review work performed by other team members; and
  • Schedule and manage integration of quality management during all phases of proposals and projects.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm.   • Fieldwork and overnight travel will also be necessary.

Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, natural sciences or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil or environmental engineering or natural resources science, with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (preferred)
  • Professional Registration (P.E. or P.G. or equivalent). (required)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of experience in consulting industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Demonstrated business development and project management experience. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience managing water resources projects and teams for municipal, industrial, and other water resources industry clients. (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
