WATER SERVICES INTERNSHIP

Central Office, Waco, Texas

SUMMARY OF INTERNSHIP: Supports the activities in the Water Services Department, including water operations, hydrologic studies, water supply contract administration and computer operations. Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: assist in data collection related to water use, stream flow and reservoir operations; assist in data entry, computerized analysis and report preparation; use PC software to select, sort, and display data; assist in researching engineer reports for relevant data and documenting sources and assumptions of such data; and assist in analysis of water use, streamflow, and reservoir data. Perform such other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: personal computers and standard software; general office procedures; and principles of math, engineering, and earth sciences. Skill/Ability to: follow directions and guidance; conduct research and apply information; operate a personal computer and standard software; perform data entry tasks quickly and accurately; read and understand technical materials; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Must have completed two years of college with a major in engineering or related field such as geology, geography, hydrology, or other earth science; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

HOURLY RATE: $14.00 per hour - 40 hours per week.

BRAZOS RIVER AUTHORITY (BRA):The BRA was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 and exists to develop, manage and protect the water resources of the Brazos River Basin. Today, BRA's staff develops and distributes water supplies, provides water and wastewater treatment, monitors water quality, and pursues water conservation through public education programs.
