As a Lead Product Designer, you will work with a team of developers, requirements managers, and product owners supporting programs with the design, creation, and maintenance of client-side applications. We are looking for a UI/UX designer responsible for conceiving and conducting user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into effective products with intuitive user interfaces. You will be developing personas, journey maps, high level user flow diagrams, wireframes, high fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes to evolve the product design. You will also design the overall functionality of the product and iterate upon it to ensure a great user experience. To do so, you will perform end-user facing research with our products, and integrate insights from this research into the design process. You will be required to stay abreast of new methods, tools, technologies, and trends that impact user experience research and design practices.

• Translate concepts into wire frames and mock ups that lead to intuitive user experiences.
• Facilitate the customer and product owner product visions by researching, conceiving, wire framing, sketching, prototyping, mocking up and testing user experiences.
• Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
• Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
• Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and customers and with a cross-functional team of designers, product managers, and engineers on all phases of the product development life cycle
• Incorporate best practices for accessibility, usability, web performance, and design into our products and ultimately champion a more consistent and delightful user experience.
• Establish standard processes, style guides and component libraries and provide mentorship to other front-end engineers and lead designers in all aspects of UX development.
• Reviewing other designers work products for compliance and consistency
• Use appropriate research methodology, tools, and protocols to conduct user-centered research.
• Perform subjective and objective research both qualitatively and quantitatively, to gather deep end-user understanding.

Required:

• Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience
• Experience with user research methods and creating personas, journey maps, user flow diagrams
• Experience with design tools such as Figma
• Experience with Atomic design methodology
• Experience in setting up component libraries and approve designs for the components (based on US web design system - USWDS guidelines)
• Experience with CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap, Foundation or similar
• Experience with 508a requirements and 508a testing tools
• Experience employing an iterative, user-centric design process in UX design/interactive prototyping
• Experience taking input from multiple sources and synthesizing it into coherent design ideas
• Experience defining interaction models, creating userflows, storyboards, wireframes and prototypes.
• Demonstrated experience using design thinking, Agile concepts and practices, and product management principles to develop customer focused software products.
• Experience with visual design/interaction design creating and implementing user interfaces based on user data gathering.
• Must be creative, innovative and artistic and passionate about following the latest and emerging UI/UX trends
• Must be a team player with strong analytical skills to understand and translate business requirements to product features.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both technical and business environments.
• Work independently and efficiently in high-paced environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

Preferred:

• Experience of Jira, Confluence
• User Experience Design Certificate(s)
• Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Human Computer Interaction, Digital Media Design, Fine Arts or related field
• Highly prefer candidates in eastern, central or mountain time zones
• Experience supporting US government customers

In accordance with pay transparency guidelines, the proposed salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000. Final salary will be determined based on various factors such as relevant skills, experience and certifications.
