Summary

The Payroll Administrator II compiles payroll data to process and maintain payroll records. Participates in other functions such as cash flow, bank reconciliations, audit preparation, and back-up support to other roles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Processes payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance, and union dues from time sheets and other records.
  • Prepares computer input forms, processes data into computer files, and computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll records.
  • Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records.
  • Records data concerning the transfer of employees between departments.
  • Prorates expenses to be debited or credited to each department for cost accounting records.
  • Prepares and processes periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.

Under general supervision, this person will be required to process timesheets and payroll data on a bi-weekly basis and assist with the preparation of payroll-related tax payments and account reconciliations. This person will be regularly assisting managers and other employees, so strong customer service skills are required. This person will have a willingness to assist other areas of the accounting department, as needed.

The right person will have experience processing payroll data for a variety of labor types. This position requires the ability to work with differing sets of regulations per contract, while still ensuring employee compliance with federal and state labor laws. Familiarity with the DoD or any other job-costing environment is helpful, as is experience using Deltek's Time & Expense or Costpoint. Candidates must be highly organized, with strict attention to detail and the ability to maintain employee confidentiality.

Education and Skills:

  • Three to seven years of Payroll experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Excel a must
  • High attention to detail required
  • Must demonstrate discretion, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Payroll tax processing highly desired
  • Accounting and/or Payroll experience in Government contracting a plus
  • Experience using Deltek Time & Expense or Deltek Costpoint a plus
  • Must be able to meet critical deadlines

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.

Travel
This position does not require travel.
