Job Description Summary | This is a staff position with some teaching responsibilities. May teach one course per semester among Technical Theatre I and Technical Theatre II labs. Serves as the Scene Shop Supervisor, oversee paints, and props areas for the department production season, building sets and props for the production season, provide supervision to student workers and lab students in the scene shop. |

Essential Functions |
Serve as Scene Shop Supervisor for the Theatre & Dance department production season: 1. Oversee the progression of scenic, paints, and props during the production season. Make sure these areas are completed in a timely and safe fashion for department shows. 2. Build scenery for the Theatre & Dance department production season. Work with the Technical Director to schedule proper workflow of scenic elements. Supervise Student Workforce while also being a hands-on contributor to the set construction process. 3. Collaborate with the TD and the Production Manager to train the deck crew during tech and dress rehearsals on how to move scenery pieces and furniture fast and safely, as well as on basic theatre upkeep. 4. Attends tech and dress rehearsals if needed to problem solve on any scenery related matters. Be on call to fix or correct any issues occurring during performances. 5. Experience with stage rigging systems and operations, and ability to train staff and students in how to operate them safely. 6. Attend Production Meetings as requested. 7. Beginning and end of semester duties include restock, tool maintenance, reorganize the scene shop, attic prop storage, and storage at French House. Teaching: 1. Teach THA150/150L: Technical Theatre I and Lab. The students are divided into 3 groups and rotate among scenic, costume, and lighting areas throughout the semester, in order to learn basic terminology and skills in all 3 areas. This position may teach the scenic portion. 2. Teach THA250: Technical Theatre II *THA150/150L is offered at least once per year. THA250 is usually in rotation every other year, as scheduled by the Program Director and/or Department Chair/s. Supervise student workers and lab students in the scene shop: 1. Teach and supervise lab students and student workers. This usually consists of preparing specific projects and assigning students what to do during the shop hours, demonstrating use of specific tools, and the best methodologies to complete a project, etc. 2. Maintain the safety of the working environment and reinforce the safety protocols in the scene shop. 3. Clean and reorganize the scene shop and get ready for the next working day. 4. Maintenance of all shop and storage spaces between production and beginning/end of semester. |
