Job Description

Broadwind Heavy Fabrications provides large, complex and precision fabrications to customers in a broad range of industrial markets, as well as proprietary clean fuel processing systems. Key products include wind towers, PRS units and industrial fabrications, which include components for mining, construction, marine, material handling and other applications. We are searching for a Senior Quality Manager at our Abilene, TX location to provide expertise and guidance and ensure product quality and conformance to customer specifications. In addition to handling the responsibilities of a Sr. Quality Manager, this role will partner with the operations team to create and sustain a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May include some or all of the following responsibilities)

  • Cultivate a standard of quality throughout our company's culture to focus on customers' continuous improvement requirements, new product development and subsequently ensures successful product launches and delivery.
  • Work with Director to apply quality thinking and rational to manage business challenges, strategic planning and staffing models in order to meet customer expectations and control overhead costs.
  • Manage the execution of successful quality audits. Lead team to develop root cause analysis, effective troubleshooting and possible corrective actions.
  • Support the Operations team in maintaining a manufacturing process that remains within specifications and enhances production flow and on time delivery; provide the quality perspective to ensure customer focus is paramount.
  • Initiate and maintain key partnerships/relationships between our production leadership and Quality.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with customers, suppliers, co-workers and subordinates as a representative of the company onsite and elsewhere as required.
  • Direct the Quality Department operations through leadership excellence, ensuring others execute as required. This may include direct involvement or through delegation to include:
    • Responsibility for quality related record including the investigation of discrepancies.
    • Proper operation of tools, instruments, equipment and work aids used in performing quality related tasks.
    • Lead, guide and train employees on policies, procedures, quality related matters and company objectives.
    • Interpret and analyze informational needs, and provide technical advice and guidance in area of specialty.
    • Develop and deliver effective presentations for workforce and customers.
  • Guide professional development for direct reports and others within the department.
  • Facilitate and drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide support to the program management process.
  • Manage other projects as needed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or experience/accreditations in lieu of the degree.
  • 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results, monitor activities, analyze data, identify problems and develop solutions.
  • Production management including manufacturing supervision and materials management as well as wind industry knowledge will be considered a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in managing technical personnel and complex activities.
  • Must have a proficiency in Microsoft Office and network environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in reading and interpreting technical specifications including engineering drawings is desirable. These experiences should be gained in the areas of engineering or technical production operations and should include a minimum of two years in quality management.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or similar QMS certification is required.
  • Six Sigma, Greenbelt minimum required, higher level is desirable.
  • ASQ certifications will be a plus.
  • Experience with ASME pressure vessel product / certifications is a plus.
  • Experience with AISC product / certification is a plus.
  • Must possess valid driver's license and proof of insurance

  • High level of comfort working with/communicating to individuals at all levels of the company and with external customers.
  • Able to manage through challenging situations based on ever-changing business needs.
  • Has established procedures for maintaining high standards of quality, reliability and safety.
  • Experienced in determining and enforcing quality and safety requirements in accordance with established company and customer requirements, based on current regulations and state of the art product development.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to multiple locations or facilities.
  • Requires the ability to successfully lead, guide and/or train personnel performing related work.
