Primary Purpose

The Low Carbon Solutions Senior Operations Manager oversees, manages, implements, administers, and maintains operations best practices and procedures according to SI guidelines. The position also promotes efficient and safe production processes, optimization, and high-quality standards. The Low Carbon Solutions Senior Operations Manager, plays a crucial role in ammonia and Low Carbon Solutions project development portfolio, implementing best practices, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position works closely to other functions such as E&C, finance modelling, permitting, safety, corporate IT to perform technical reviews, develop philosophies, develop OPEX model, safety plans, review technology functions and business Systems, provide operational guidelines and overall support required by project development teams. It also provides operational and technical support to operating facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees all aspects of ammonia and low carbon solutions projects development and support production operations, including planning, scheduling, and execution of production processes.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control measures. Manages the development and maintenance of safety, security, operational philosophies, procedures, and manuals for ammonia production.
  • Manages project development efforts (drawings, specifications, fabrication, engineering, and construction) to assure appropriate implementation of plant design and operating attributes which are consistent with Sempra Infrastructure design and operating philosophies. Keeps the Sempra Infrastructure design and Operating philosophies updated to reflect learned experiences.
  • Stays updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in ammonia and Hydrogen production, and implement relevant improvements to enhance operational efficiency in the design. Manages a fluent understanding of regulations with respect to regulatory, human resources, safety, security, accounting, operations, and maintenance.
  • Collaborates with supply chain teams during engineering and operations to ensure availability of raw materials and supplies required for production. Serves as a liaison between operating facilities, E&C and other groups to communicate and /or collect information to support project development.
  • Develops, validate project OPEX during mobilization and production periods, incorporating staffing plans, organizational charts, and all related O&M costs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Chemical Engineering Degree (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, etc.) and/or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and operations of LNG facilities or similar gas processing facilities.
  • 10+ years of management of operations experience, with directly related and demonstrated supervisory experience in LNG or other similar or compatible gas processing facilities.
  • 8+ years of detailed knowledge of LNG processes, operating, maintenance, commercial, IT, and gas supply procedures.
  • Proven experience in ammonia production, or related process.
  • In-depth knowledge of ammonia production processes, equipment, and industry regulations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse workforce.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in using production management software and tools.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Management of ammonia production experience, with directly related and demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Strong business, technical and project management skills to conceptualize, recommend, design, and implement operations solutions in a timely manner. Proficient in project management tools, methodologies, and technical platforms.
  • Understanding hydrocarbons business operations and processes: terminal operations, maintenance management, procurement and logistics, field activities, energy market activities, pipeline operations, financial services, human resources, measurement collecting.
  • Manage vendors and contractors to assure value delivery of contracted services and to develop solutions to complex business problems.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary, high-performance work teams/groups.

  • Master's Degree Engineering, Business, or related disciplines
