The Satellite Housing Navigator will work within the Coordinated Entry System of the Balance of State (BoS) Continuum of Care (CoC).The Housing Navigator is responsible for providing outreach services to unsheltered homeless persons in the community and to those referred by mental health providers, hospitals, and social service agencies. The housing navigator will administer assessments, facilitate placement into emergency housing, and connect to social services and permanent housing. The Satellite Housing Navigator will assist clients in obtaining housing readiness documentation and assist with the housing application process.

Responsibilities include:

  • Administer intake assessments
  • Facilitate placement into emergency housing
  • Connect individuals to relevant social services
  • Assist in completing applications to permanent housing
  • Assist in obtaining housing readiness documentation
  • Connect with Housing Providers to identify housing opportunities

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior related experience required.
  • Maintaining a non-judgmental attitude and unconditional positive regard when working with unsheltered individuals.
  • Ability to engage in street based outreach.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of varying racial, ethnic, cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with Harm Reduction and Housing First models of service delivery.
  • Ability to listen with sensitivity to other people's feelings, needs, and point of view; demonstrate tact and courtesy in expressing opinions or ideas, recognizing opportunities to enhance community relations.
  • Understanding of severe mental health, physical health, and substance abuse issues and symptoms.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently and have strong organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Have creative problem-solving skills
  • A valid Massachusetts Driver's License and insurance is required for the position.
