ROLE WITH THE COMPANY:
The Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the accounting team, contributing to the maintenance of accurate financial records, month-end close processes, and various financial reporting activities. Will have detailed knowledge of the company's financial and accounting processes. Perform monthly close processes involving AP, AR, GL, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Assist in developing/compiling/analyzing statistical data, identifying trends, formulating conclusions, and preparing complete and accurate financial and statistical reports. Reports to the VP-Controller.
  • Perform and ensure accurate and timely month-end close procedures, including journal entries
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the accounting process and general ledger system
  • Maintain, verify, and update various ledgers, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, credit card statements and corresponding GL accounts
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting policies and procedures
  • Fixed Assets recording, tracking, depreciation, and disposal
  • Prepare analysis and summaries of accounts as requested
  • Contribute to achieving accounting team goals, working with a creative, flexible, and innovative team
  • Make recommendations to automate functions and limit reporting/accounting risks around vendor contracts
  • Participate in providing managers with accurate, timely financial information necessary for decision making
  • Assist with integrating acquisitions into company policies & procedures, accounting systems
  • Track and slice/dice labor hours by project, by client, by different types of pay
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Assist with special accounting projects

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of strong foundational accounting experience in the monthly close process
  • Experience at a large company preferred, strong familiarity with GAAP and internal controls
  • Experience in a growing business, adapting to improve processes to allow for further growth
  • ERP system implementation experience and continuous process improvement mindset a plus
  • Strong Excel user including pivot tables and vlookups and experience with QuickBooks preferred
  • Inquisitive self-starter, go-getter, capable of learning quickly with desire to learn
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage priorities and workflow
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence
