Job Description

Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Lead and provide technical direction to in-house compressor specialists in planned and unplanned turbomachinery repairs and overhauls
  • Supervise and manage in-house compressor specialists as they oversee contract labor in centrifugal machinery overhauls, repairs and inspections

  • Oversee the overhaul of rotating machinery in the Gulf Coast and Hydrogen Pipeline BUs

  • Identify training needs and develop internal resources in the area of compressor and steam turbine maintenance

  • Partner with Reliability Engineers in analyzing machinery vibration data and developing corrective maintenance plans, as necessary.

  • Direct and oversee vendor shop repairs as necessary to ensure proper procedures and inspections are followed and performed

  • Manage and maintain the reciprocating compressor overhaul schedule

  • Develop project plans and schedules for upcoming overhauls

  • Assist planner by providing technical input into the planning process. This may include but is not limited to manpower estimation, material estimates, job steps and possible repair techniques

  • Document maintenance activities in the CMMS with sufficient detail to accurately reflect machinery history

  • Participate in RCFA's and Vulnerability Studies

  • Provide technical support on troubleshooting turbomachinery problems and provide recommendations for repair

  • Manage the capital spare equipment inventory to ensure timely and quality shop repairs

  • Ensure proper parts are in inventory or sourced for upcoming repair needs

  • Lead/participate in compressor performance studies

  • Provide technical guidance to the Gulf Coast locations regarding turbomachinery operating problems

  • Provide input into annual budgeting process in regards to upcoming overhaul recommendations and cost estimates

  • Develop and maintain work history information on all turbomachinery

  • Develop and maintain method of assessing equipment condition and make recommendations for repairs

  • Identify methods to reduce cost of repairs and overhauls

Accountability:

  • 100% compliance to ALA Safety standards

  • Comply with all ALA and government regulations

  • Documentation of machinery repairs and overhauls

  • Performing equipment inspections and develop plans for repair of exceptions

  • Reliability and availability of rotating machinery

    Requirements:

    • B.S. Degree required in Mechanical Engineering preferred

    • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.

    • Excellent planning and organizational skills

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • 10+ years in centrifugal machinery maintenance activities

    • Strong knowledge of vibration analysis

    • Thorough knowledge in the operation of compression equipment
