We are looking to add a Technical Product Manager at the intersection of business, technology, and customer experience, serving as the guiding force behind the creation and evolution of a decarbonization hardware product. This role will connect identified customer needs and the larger business objectives that a product or feature will fulfill, articulate what success looks like for a product, and rally teams to turn that vision into a reality. With a blend of technical knowledge, business acumen, and a deep understanding of customer experience, a First Mode Technical Product Manager prioritizes product adoptability, builds consensus, and coordinates product development with designers, engineers, marketers, and other stakeholders. They are the custodians of the product roadmap, balancing varied interests and constraints to ensure product delivery that resonates with users and achieves the company's strategic goals.

Position Responsibilities

  • Defining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a decarbonization hardware product in alignment with company objectives and market opportunities.
  • Conducting market research on decarbonization hardware products to identify customer needs, trends, and competitive landscapes, ensuring the voice of the customer is at the forefront of the product's strategy
  • Setting product performance requirements and cost targets, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and sales to ensure they strike the balance of desirability, feasibility, and viability
  • Measuring and analyzing product performance and using this data to drive product strategy
  • Defining and analyzing metrics that inform the success of products
  • Adjusting product strategy based on feedback from customers, users, and data analytics

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong demonstrated ability to define, quantify and visualize a hardware product strategy from concept into a focused set of requirements, metrics and KPIs.
  • Experience with both direct and in-direct reporting lines, with a previously demonstrated ability to provide clear direction and impactfully motivate both types of relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing a proactive communication style to promote cross-functional collaboration, efficient product development, and effective risk mitigation.
  • Experience reviewing inputs, feedback, and insights from across an organization and driving to the most efficient and effective resolution.
  • 5+ years of experience in a hardware-based technical field such as engineering, manufacturing, equipment operations, or similar
  • 3+ years of experience in Product Management, Systems Engineering, or similar
  • Bachelor's degree in business or applicable technical field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience bringing a new product to market
  • Experience in requirements management and other complex technical project management tools (e.g., JAMA, JIRA, DOORS)
  • Experience through a complete product lifecycle (requirements, design, build, test, manufacturing, and deployment)
  • Experience in market assessment and defining product market fit
  • Experience defining a product strategy that includes financial forecasts and budgetary considerations, in alignment with companywide objectives and senior leadership goals.
  • Experience with Data Analysis and Interpretation
  • Strong technical analysis skills to drive complex application designs and documentation (Functional/Technical/Interface Specifications/User Stories)

Additional Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to travel to offsite locations, including remote First Mode locations and/or customer sites.
  • Able to travel within First Mode and/or customer sites to complete site inspections and/or review work progress.
  • Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization's physical premises.

Location

  • This position will be located at First Mode's headquarters in Seattle, WA and will be required to work in office >60% of working hours

Total Rewards

Base Salary Range: $179,100 - $240,000

Principal Technical Product Manager I: $179,100 - $214,000

Principal Technical Product Manager II: $196,200 - $240,000
