About the role

The Director of Data Governance will lead the development & implementation of data governance strategies and processes, ensuring data quality and integrity across the organization.

You will leverage your intellectual curiosity, analytical mindset, and cross-functional program management skills to define & execute data governance and Master Data Management (MDM) strategies, and foster a culture of data-driven decision-making.

As we introduce new products, new data sources, and new initiatives at 10x, you will be the go-to leader for ensuring data is treated as a first-class citizen and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.

What you will be doing

  • Establish and lead the data governance council, and provide expert guidance to shepherd and align business stakeholders, analysts, and technical staff
  • Develop and execute data governance and master data strategy, roadmap, & policies to enhance data accuracy, completeness, integrity, consistency, and timeliness
  • Actively participate in the design of data schemas to support governance and business objectives
  • Train and mentor staff and business partners to improve data handling, governance practices, and business processes
  • Utilize technical skills to engage in hands-on data quality improvement projects, including identification and resolution of data quality issues
  • Collaborate broadly with business units, such as Finance, Operations, Commercial, and R&D, to ensure high-quality data integration in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process
  • Partner with business teams, data engineers, and analysts to design, implement, & maintain tools, integrations, and solutions for data governance, MDM, etc.

Minimum qualifications

  • Ability to think strategically about the bigger picture and also deep-dive into technical specifics (database schemas, ER diagrams, SQL transformations, lineage).
  • Strong technical skills to identify & analyze data quality issues, such as writing complex SQL queries
  • Strong program management and communication skills to clearly articulate and resolve data quality issues
  • 7+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, data governance, and/or data engineering
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, whether collaborating cross-functionally with or managing business analysts, analytics developers, data engineers, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in defining and implementing Master Data Management and/or Data Governance strategies and solutions
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, Business Administration, Business Analytics, or a related field OR equivalent experience

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of business processes such as S&OP, revenue forecasting, supply chain management, etc.
  • Programming skills in one or more general-purpose languages (Python, Go, C++, or similar.)
  • Knowledge of the modern data stack landscape (Airflow, Dagster, dbt, Atlan, Alteryx, Collibra, Talend, Databricks, Snowflake, Tableau, Metabase, Mode, Superset, Fivetran, Stitch, etc.)
  • Experience with data privacy/protection standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data security and access management

Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one's skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company's total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x's equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program. $222,000$300,000 USD
