Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Liquids & DW Emulsions R&D Chemistwill perform Laboratory Polymerizations, which can include Raw Material Qualification, In-Process Support, Toll Manufacturing, or New Product Development with limited supervision. Must have ability to work with production personnel to resolve production issues and introduce new products or Toll Manufacturing Formulations in the Liquids Plant. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine laboratory Liquids & DW Emulsions polymerizations.
  • Characterize polymer properties according to standard testing procedures.
  • Assist Liquids and DW Emulsions Plants in new product or Toll Manufacturing introductions.
  • Work in cross functional teams to improve Liquids & DW Emulsions process functions (cycle time, process improvements, product enhancements/modifications., etc.).
  • Monitor raw material storage to keep all chemicals up to date and compliant.
  • Maintain all laboratory work in Cetlab (includes correspondence, formulations, calculations, analytical results, performance results, etc.).
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or equivalent required (Organic Preferred).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of laboratory synthesis.
  • Minimum 1 year in the Industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Working knowledge of basic chemistry (Analytical and Organic).
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Controls and Methods.
  • Polymer polymerization experience preferred.
  • Highly motivated and detail oriented.
  • Possess good communication skills.
  • Team player and able to work well with individuals and teams representing all area of the organization.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Software Applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel (limited).
