Learn the end-to-end customer organization through participation in a hands-on eighteen-to-twenty-four-month rotational program as an Emerging Leader Development Associate at BCBSRI. Designed to prepare recent college graduates for future cross-functional, strategic positions within BCBSRI. Provide administrative support and complete special projects/assignments under general direction across the product, operations, service, and/or business planning functions. Gain exposure to a variety of challenging work environments across several disciplines; partner with department leaders who will provide mentoring throughout rotation assignment. Attain the skills needed to build a career inside health insurance and within the organization and hone leadership abilities to guide our enthusiastic, engaged workforce to improve performance year-over-year, thus promoting employee empowerment and development, and maximizing corporate results

What you will do:

  • Participate in an eighteen-to-twenty-four-month rotational program and gain exposure to multiple organizational disciplines, including but not limited to product, operations, service, and business planning/strategy. Gain a solid understanding of the relationships between each discipline's work, and how those relationships can be used to maximize our value as an organization.
  • Partner with department leaders who will provide professional mentoring throughout rotation assignment.
  • Work with various department leads, supervisors, and managers to learn the decision-making processes to plan and direct the work of the organization.
  • Conduct research on various policies, practices, and topics.
  • Provide administrative support to assigned department, complete special projects, tasks, and assignments under general direction.
  • Collect, record, analyze, and evaluate data and information.
  • Assist team with department initiatives and projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Zero to three years' experience in business management or related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of products, i.e., Word, Excel, PPT, etc.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels within and outside of the company.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills - thinks in a logical and ordered way.
  • Ability to research data, identify trends and recommend appropriate actions
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to take initiative in finding solutions to difficult and/or sensitive problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with various stakeholders
  • Ability to organize work efficiently to meet established time and quality standards
  • Good organization skills
  • Good time management skills

The extras:

  • A demonstrated desire to learn as evidenced by successful completion or current participation in a formal four-year degree program from an accredited organization.
  • Healthcare and/or insurance industry knowledge or experience

Location:

BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week*.

* - Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Virginia
