Job Description
Primary Purpose
Provides strategic and commercial project support to various projects developed by Sempra. The position will provide strategic and commercial support to Commercial Development leaders. Projects typically represent investments ranging from $500 million to $10 billion. Utilizing a range of prior experience in commercial, technical, permitting, operational, finance and/or risk related aspects to support project development or execution of assigned projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the project team to review, analyze and develop drafts of material project documents to include various contracts and tolling, financing and related project agreements.
  • Collaborate with budget owners to develop lean budgets and report on actual performance against development budget during construction and operations. Document all assumptions and all changes and ensure the accounting team has sufficient information to review and provide guidance for proper accounting.
  • Work with the financial analysts to develop maintain the project model.
  • Proactively identify risks and mitigations, contribute to overall venture assurance process, identify issues and liaise with stakeholders to reach consensus on issues.
  • Prepare and present written detailed analyses, presentations and reports for the project team, senior management, and Customers.
  • Work with the Financial Analysis team, Engineering & Construction team, Asset Development team, Marketing and Strategy team, and other groups to assess project economics and competitiveness. Contribute as necessary to project financing activities.
  • Contribute to developing a positive work culture in line with Sempra's values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Business, communication, finance, science or related field. Required
  • Master's Degree Business, finance, or accounting. Preferred
Experience
  • 3+ In a comparable level role in business development, technical, operations, commercial, asset management, project execution and/or development in the natural gas or LNG industry. Required
  • 3+ Prior experience in permitting, finance and/or risk related aspects of project development or execution in the natural gas and/or LNG industry. Preferred
Skills and Abilities
  • Professional with strong personal drive and creditability with both internal and external stakeholders. Advanced
  • Proven project development or execution and delivery of business objectives, ability to analyze and understand complex situations, and ability to develop, recommend and implement practicable solutions in accordance with world-class industry standards. Advanced
  • Ability to understand contractual terms and conditions, risks and related topics within the project scope and contracts/documents including Sales/Purchases, Tolling Agreements, Gas Sales/Purchases, Pipeline Transportation, EPC Contract, Import/Export Authorizations Permits, Financing Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements, Risk Assessments, and/or related subjects.   • Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and other software tools. Intermediate
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing project-related priorities and deliver high quality, accurate work within required deadlines. Advanced
  • Ability to review complex agreements and recommend revisions to project documents is highly desirable. Intermediate
  • Must have strong communications and interpersonal skills for managing and working within a project team Advanced

HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 3 days per week onsite.
