In this role, you will work under technical direction of the Chief Electrical Engineer. You will administer and manage the Project Delivery Group (PDG) or office discipline staff and design processes in respective discipline. You will also serve as Design Engineer on assigned projects.

Job Responsibilities:

    Application of Knowledge of Design
    • Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge of new processes and products and stays current with design and construction technology and methods/trends
    • Actively participates in the development and maintenance of design standards, technical details, standard specifications, checklists, and production procedures for the delivery group discipline. Reviews and enforces compliance with standards
    • Recommends information for in-house resource centers, libraries, publications, codes, standards, testing equipment and similar materials relating to the discipline
    • Assists Chief Electrical Engineer in review and selection of discipline-specific analysis and modeling software
  • Design
    • Participates in the development of group and corporate standards and specifications committees
    • Keeps apprised of new technologies and assists in the incorporation of the new technologies into the A/E practice and discipline design standards
    • Coordinates work with other disciplines. Performs interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions in drawings and specifications
    • Signs and seals design documents when assigned as Professional of Record. Maintains ethics and professionalism.
    • Provides leadership in the implementation of corporate quality processes
    • Complies with state regulations regarding professional registrations
    • Assures adherence to drawing production strategy and the utilization of the corporate design standards and specifications
    • Responsible to produce well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness
    • Writes discipline specifications for assigned projects
    • Assures adherence within the group to the discipline quality plan and procedures
  • Construction Support
    • Establishes procedures for assuring design and construction Quality standards. Responsible for discipline Quality and assists Quality staff in areas of discipline expertise
    • Provides technical assistance during construction for problem-solving when special expertise is needed
    • Receives information on the post-construction performance of completed projects, including operating experience Coordinates with Chief Electrical Engineer to incorporate this information into discipline standards and procedures
    • Reviews applicable shop drawings and submittal data for compliance with construction documents
  • Project Management
    • Provides technical guidance and strategy assistance in the development of design concepts (including proposals) and participates in strategic planning meetings when his expertise is requested
    • Participates in project staffing assignments
    • Assists in the engagements of and interface with professional consultants and partnering arrangements with consultants, design-build subcontractors, and vendors, when required by the project team
    • Assures adherence to drawing production strategy. Responsible to produce well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness
    • Ability to actively engage in multiple project assignments and prioritize competing project demands
  • Profitability/Planning/Scheduling
    • Assists in developing discipline budgets for projects
    • Coordinates with Chief Electrical Engineer to incorporate lessons learned on projects for continuous improvement
    • Implements corporate initiatives on streamlining systems and procedures
    • Reviews financial performance of EE team on projects in the delivery group
    • Fulfills other duties as assigned by A/E Discipline Leader
    • Performs evaluations of staff within PDG or office and advises on salary adjustments
  • Professional Development
    • Develops and disseminates discipline information to group discipline, other A/E, construction, and support unit staff to broaden their knowledge and understanding of discipline terminology, goals and activities
    • Complies with state regulations regarding professional registrations
    • Actively participates in professional engineering organizations at local and national levels. Defines career paths for PDG or office staff. Assists discipline staff within PDG or office in developing individual goals and approves final goals
  • Leadership
    • In coordination with Chief Electrical Engineer, defines goals for engineering staff within PDG or office and advises on staffing levels
    • Assists in recruiting discipline staff
    • Coordinates with Chief Electrical Engineer to define career paths for PDG or office staff. Assists discipline staff within PDG or office in developing individual goals and approves final goals
    • Responsible for discipline staff reviews, career/professional development, mentoring, and technical competence Encourages and assists in registration, continuing education and expansion of technical knowledge. Recommends salary adjustments and bonuses for discipline staff
    • Provides leadership in the implementation of corporate quality processes
    • Designs and supervises electrical engineering design per corporate goals and standards
    • Assures peer review of work. Signs and seals documents when Business Unit registration is not available. In this capacity, provides technical review of documents as deemed necessary
    • Serves as a champion of sustainable design for projects, and knows how to implement into projects
    • Serves as group discipline resource in the Company's "designing for safety" program
    • Assists in the development and application of discipline standards

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum of 10 years experience within the electrical engineering discipline as well as experience in design-build and/or construction

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one state with the ability to become registered in all states
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • BIM
    • Manager level proficiency with Autodesk REVIT and AutoCAD programs
  • Ability to read and effectively interpret building construction documentation and associated reports
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively work with others and interact with all levels of management
  • Excellent organizational skills to handle/prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong negotiation/conflict resolution skills
  • Safety
    • Successfully completed or will successfully complete within one year the OSHA 30-hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Program

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
