Job Description

Primary Purpose
The Project Contracts Advisor will be primarily responsible for supporting the Contracts Manager in contracting, administering and managing large complex contracts for major and large-scale capital projects. The Project Contract Advisor will initiate, track and monitor the contract development process, contract changes, deliverables, correspondence and maintains associated documentation, systems and tools. The Project Contract Advisor uses standardized processes and tools to blend contract compliance with commercial know-how and practicality and focuses on contract compliance and customer service for the project team. The Project Contracts Advisor must be a self-starter who works independently with little supervision and provides guidance and support to other members of the project team and will have significate experience for large-scale projects.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understands and aids in the project teams' understanding of all contract requirements. Coordinates with the project team to ensure compliance with all contracts throughout the life of the project. Responsible for informing the project team of the requirements of the contract and monitoring compliance. Works with the project team and/or business unit and Legal, ensuring that all legal and contractual matters are addressed efficiently and promptly.
  • Supports in managing the ongoing life cycle of major project contracts, including: contract planning, contract drafting and negotiations, contract execution, change management, contract performance, and contract close-out. Prepares contract change orders and amendment documents while ensuring compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
  • Aids in reviewing contract documents, exhibits, pricing and payment schedules, ensuring that the agreements with vendors/suppliers are commercially advantageous. Prepares negotiation plans and compiling support documentation and facts prior to negotiations.
  • Researches local and global industry events to draft event summaries and creates tools for analyzing and tracking of Contractor issues and claims.
  • Tracks receipts and delivery of project correspondence, prepares and initiates letters and responses to Contractors on various business and commercial matters. Prepares notices and facilitates quick responses to Contractor's inquiries.
  • Develops and integrates contract management tools, templates, methods and processes. Using tools and templates, prepares and disseminates information regarding contract status, compliance, modifications, etc Works with Project Analyst to develop and maintain the contract database and manage the contract document repository in SharePoint.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree at a minimum, preferably in Business or English. Required
  • Coursework and certification in in business law, contracts, mediation. Preferred

Experience

  • 5+ years of related professional experience in energy, procurement or contracts management. Required
  • LNG, supply chain and commercial legal experience. Preferred
  • Experience in EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contracts. Preferred
  • Experience with day-to-day management of complex outsourcing arrangements. Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of general corporate business practices, government and commercial contracting regulations and principles, subcontracting practices, and accounting and finance principles Intermediate
  • Clear understanding of contracting strategies, including Convertible Contracts (i.e. OBE to LSTK Agreements) Intermediate
  • Strong proficiency with contracts negotiation, drafting and administration skills Intermediate
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and manage multiple priorities Intermediate
  • Detail oriented and adheres to deadlines Intermediate
  • Able to demonstrate excellent analytical and mathematical skills Intermediate
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently Intermediate
  • Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills Intermediate
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software, Outlook Email Intermediate

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification a plus (i.e., CFCM, CCCM, CPCM, CPM) Preferred

Other Qualifications

  • Fluency in oral and written Spanish is a plus.
  • National Contract Management Association (NCMA) membership or International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM) preferred.

This role is expected to work five days a week in the office and ten hour days.


OFFICE: Work onsite at a company facility due to the nature of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
