THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a lead systems engineer to provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise to our growing team. As a key contributor, you will have a strong technical background to contribute to all aspects of the software development process. We have competitive benefit packages and an award-winning culture.

The Datacenter Graphics and Accelerated Computing (DCGPU) organization is looking for an experienced system engineer with background on doing board type validation including electrical and power validation on a board as it relates to usage with a GPU. This would include voltmeters, putting probes on a board, validate power, validate VR readings and in general ensuring that a given board coming from a partner/odm checks out. As well, individual will be engaged in bring-up of said board, documenting known items, potentially travelling to ODM/partner/customer and in general being a system level debugger.


THE PERSON:

You are a highly motivated hands-on leader with a strong development background, problem solving mentality, excellent communication skills, ability to prioritize tasks along with willingness to learn and adapt. Excellent teamwork skills and capable of leading a highly technical team.

Experience in full checkout of a system board that is part of a DataCenter GPU product. Someone that collaborates closely with not only the board engineering teams but the functional areas - working closely to ensure proper values, validation is accomplished.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead technical presentations demonstrating a good understanding of application, data, infrastructure, architecture expertise and application systems design
  • Collaborate with infrastructure architects and be responsible for the defining-designing-delivering of the technical architectures, patterns, technical quality, risks, fitness for purpose and operability of technical architecture solutions
  • Be a leader and mentor to the team; be hands-on and lead by example
  • Be able to hand-on troubleshoot and solve the technical issues; own the problem and drive for resolution
  • Able to proactively support team culture that fosters knowledge sharing, excellence, and collaboration
  • Debug / triage / map out solutions for a given system/platform
  • Understanding of GPU/System level HW and SW flow
  • Ability to probe parts of a board; check electrical and power currents and validate a system
  • Communicate / Document flows and methods of bring-up, boot-up, system initialization and debug

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 8 to 10 yrs experience in System level debug, triage, board validation
  • Proven ability to drive resolution of critical problems within a lab, datacenter
  • Relationship with external partners/ODMs to communicate, resolve problems and drive resolutions
  • Ability to potentially travel to work complex issues
  • Ability to work bring-up, manufacturing, and datacenter issues/failures
  • Relationship with external customers/partners on ability to define rqmts
  • Significant experience in debugging system level issues: electrical, power, networkin,

  • Must be able to collaborate with key stakeholders and work to drive solutions and solve difficult problems

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or related field strongly preferred
