Overview

The Lead Housekeeper is responsible for supervising the cleaning of the business office, residential units, public and common areas of the property in a neat, clean, and attractive condition. In this position you will be supervising a team of Housekeepers. Duties include training new employees, delegating work, and scheduling.

Responsibilities
    Supervise and develop the housekeeping staff.
  • Purchase and maintain the inventory needed on-site to perform daily maintenance duties.
  • Maintain a monthly housekeeping budget.
  • Compile a variety of reports relating to the housekeeping operations of the property.
  • Respond to emergency housekeeping calls.
  • Supervise and coordinate work shifts for the housekeeping staff, as applicable.
  • Evaluate the performance of the housekeeping staff, as applicable.
  • Assist in the hiring and training of the necessary personnel for the Housekeeping Departments.

Supervise and participate in the following housekeeping functions:

  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways and other work areas so that health standards are met.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
  • Empty wastebaskets, empty and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors, using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
  • Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
  • Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
  • Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary.
  • Disinfect equipment and supplies, using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers.
  • During unit turnover, holds responsibility of the general cleaning of the units to include the appliances, bathrooms, vacuuming, mopping floors, dusting, cleaning counter tops, and all other cleaning services deemed appropriate.
  • Capability of walking multiple buildings daily.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • 5 years minimum experience in a housekeeping/ janitorial role
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Multi- unit cleaning experience (apartments/ campus/ hotels/ hospital)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITY

  • Be able to operate a variety of power cleaning tools and use the appropriate safety techniques.
  • General knowledge of common cleaning products and appropriate uses.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
