Cornell University's Statler Hotel is looking to hire experienced temporary bartenders for our Regent Lounge Lobby Bar. The Regent Lounge is located inside the Statler Hotel just off the main lobby and in the center of all the goings on at the hotel. It's the place where campus friends come together for happy hour, the gathering place for Cornell sports enthusiasts to meet up before or after events, and offers the best bites, beers and well-crafted cocktails on campus.

This is a temporary assignment with opportunity to apply for a regular role when available.

These roles pay $12.50 - $12.82/hour plus tips. Hourly rate determined by employment status and experience.

Your role as a Temporary Bartender:

The Statler Hotel's Regent Lounge provides a contemporarybaratmosphere serving hotel guests, Cornell faculty, staff,students, and locals who gather to enjoyfine wines, specialty cocktails, craft beers,andlight fare.As a member of the Statler Hotel's Food & Beverage Team, your primary responsibility is to provide superior service to our guests whilepreparingand servingalcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

  • The bartender must holda high level of competency regarding beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails, following standardized recipes.
  • Additionally, our bartenders serve as educators and mentors to our student staff. Bartenders work closely with students to cultivate hospitality and leadership skills.
  • Other job duties includeprovidingbeverage and dinnerservice to guests seated at the bar, maintaining and requisitioning stock, settingup and/or breakingdown of bar, maintainingproper cleanliness of bar area,and other side duties.
  • Bartendersalsohave cashieringresponsibilities, which includerecording of the sale of goods, collection of payment, secure handling of cash banks and following Statler Hotel Cash Handling Policy and Procedures.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate is someone who is high energy and very passionate about providing hospitality and service. This individual takes pride in presenting a professional, well-groomed appearance and is motivated to be a valuable contributor to our team ofprofessional and student staff.
  • Must be knowledgeable, competently skilled and experienced in the preparation and responsible service of alcoholic beverages.
  • The physical demands for this position require a Bartender to:
    • Be in good physical condition, capable of walking quickly up and down one flight of stairs while carrying multiple plates of food
    • Be capable of being on feet for long periods of time.
    • Able to lift and carry weights up to 40 lbs. May be asked to move up to 160 lbs (kegs) using hand truck.
  • Ability to learn Point of Sale systems and functions.
  • Able to work flexible hours with variable start/end times, evenings, holidays, weekends, special events, a work schedule that may be subject to change on short notice.
