Job Description

Summary:

G&A staff accountant must possess an understanding of oil and gas coding with strong knowledge of AP processing. The position is responsible for entering journals, preparing schedules, and taking appropriate action of AP reports and data. Position requires strong skills in attention to detail, analytical, communication, financials, and project management with the ability to successfully communicate with the team and prioritize work to meet deadlines for month end close.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for preparing monthly G&A accruals along with variance analysis
  • Prepare monthly journal entries related to amortization of prepaid expense accounts
  • Responsible for coding and review of G&A Invoices in OpenInvoice
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and analyze balances for transactions
  • Responsible for routing, coding, and entering check requests/wire transactions into SAP
  • Research Accounts Payable related questions
  • Maintain and assist with annual compliance and audits for all SOX processes
  • Prepare schedules as needed for external auditors or internal management
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Two (2) or more years of demonstrated experience and ability work in MS Excel, including skills creating and configuring VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and Sum IF formulas
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working with debits and credits regarding creating journal entries, amortization entries, accrual entries, and accounts payable entries
  • Familiar with Oil and Gas accounting
  • Strong attention to detail and prioritize workload
  • Have strong communication, teamwork, and project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in an accounting role
  • Understanding of GAAP
  • Ability to identify, research, and help to resolve accounting issues
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
